Grand Theft Auto V Trailer Arrives: Retirement Is Boring
It's what you've been waiting for: the debut trailer for Grand Theft Auto V!
As many rumors indicated, GTAV will indeed take place on the sunny west coast, although we see no evidence of being able to select from multiple playable characters (could still be true, though).
A guy moves out west to retire; buys himself a big house and aims to put his feet up and relax. But obviously, he's not able to avoid the lure of fast cash and fast living. The guy seems young; chances are, he earned his load of money by doing something similar elsewhere before "retiring." And when it comes to Vinewood, vice is everywhere.
The trailer doesn't offer a release date but we didn't really expect to get that. The bottom line is that GTAV will launch some time next year; the only question left is: when? We can't wait to learn more about this new installment; it looks great and chances are, it's gonna be awesome.

I gave you a thumbs up for your excitement though. ;) Since GTA4 I've kinda lost interest in the games.
My personal favorite was Vice City. That game was a lot of fun for me. What 3 did as a game, really shows how far we've come in gaming also. The series is great. Maybe you're excitement for this entry will mean, it could bring the series back to when I had fun playing them. Regardless, I'll be picking it up, in hopes I get those feelings you are portraying back! ;)

But this looks very, very much like they are back on track.
If they had released a HD version of GTA:SA I would be all over it. It's one of the few games in this world I'd be willing to pay for twice. So from that perspective, to get an "all new SA with VC tossed in" is to me a dream come true. No less.

I could be wrong of course, they could be cutscenes featuring friends of yours or something, but I'll be darned if you do not see both a black and a white guy as your main guy in those clips!

...from what I've seen in the trailer...it just seems like Los Santos.
Although I'd be quite honest...it would be nice to see all of San Andreas in this but seeing how it's not shown in the first teaser of GTAV...it may not happen. But maybe...Rockstar wants to surprise us later on...and perhaps maybe some of that video are of places in San Andreas.
Either way...I can't wait...this just feels like it's going back to the "a lot more fun" idea that the III series had.

Tommy Vercetti was certainly a badass though...and I loved that get to the point "SHUT UP OR I'LL MAKE YOU" attitude of his.
@aaronisbla...this is a person who is going to "retire"...who's to say he won't be old. And what's wrong with an old criminal...you may see a completely new viewpoint and way for a story to be told. Of course...you may not see him be as athletically fit as the other guys.

From the videos I saw, Saints Row 3 has really improved and one-upped itself, not only in content but graphics and physics too!!
It wasn't on my list at first, but once the holiday rush is over and I got more time on my hands, Saints Row 3 will be at the top of my "must buy" list.

Damn now I gotta wait again ffs, I dont have much patience as it is.
Good job we all have plenty to play in the mean time. I clocked GTA4 and I loved it I don't understand why so many people found it boring ? Maybe it's just cos I liked it and like the entire series.
The only thing I never liked was the ranking up in San Andreas swimming for 30 minutes is not my idea of fun just so I can swim in the sea for longer periods. If I wanted to do that I'd play the Sims or something, I wanna kill and rob cars etc. :)

GTA IV had the new physics, better graphics, smarter AI and all the technical stuff, but the content was similar to that of GTA III, a strong focus on nailing the basics rather than spending extra time on incredibly fun and awesome content. That was what the DLC episodes were for, extra fun content.
Now that Rockstar have more time to spend on content than technical engines, GTA V looks like it could be the San Andreas of this generation of consoles. I certainly hope so.
Next to FF VII and MGS4, San Andreas remains one of my favourite games of all time!!! Any GTA that returns to that will be a winner in my books!

That trailer was better than I hoped!! It was like they took the best looking parts of Vice City and San Andreas and threw it into one incredible HD game!!!
I can't wait to see gameplay details.
Can you gain fat or muscle like in SA?
How are the random NPC's smarter or more their own character this time round?
Can you do everything shown in the trailer, like hiking?
Are there bicycles in this game?
Will you be controlling all the different children of the retired guy and explore all their stories?
Will the famous GTA cheats of Vice City and SA be making a comeback, like flying cars?
While only showing off Los Santos, are there other towns or little places around the major city to visit? Will Las Venturas or San Fierro be making an appearance?
Can you tan your character at the beach? Are there sharks in the water to play around with?
Can you take on several different jobs, like a bouncer, pesticide control pilot, professional golfer, running races around the mountainside, everything that was shown in the trailer?!?!?
Wow, just from that trailer alone, it feels like the possibilities are endless!!!!

wont be niko either, this is apparently running 20 years after san andreas so that puts it only 6 years i think it was after IV, just hard to believe niko could go from IV to bum in 6 years but maybe there using that to extent the damage the recession has done.
plus after the reception he got, well, hes not exactly the most beloved GTA character......
same with CJ he just does not look old enough to be in this considering where this is set after san andreas.
eh, time will tell.
id be surprised if none of the characters from the ballad of gay tony or L&TD are not in this though.
R* dont just go creating things for DLC, id be a massive waste!
its nice to see a more tropical colourful vibe over the drab drastic serious tone of IV though.
san andreas in the environment and colour of vice city is what ive always wanted V to be.
and so far it looks like thats what will be getting!
colour me a excited monkey!
i just hope that excitement does not get knocked down.
i cant take another disappointment like GTAIV!
that was worse then being promised your getting a Veyron for your Bday, then ending up getting a sack of potatos!

I will still most likely buy this though & check it out but as far as sandbox games go, i'd take Saints Row The Third.

Of all possible theories, this is what I LEAST expected. This is like *the* comeback of the series! This is like the graphics and style we know and love! We get planes, mountains, beaches, countrysides... This is like... THIS IS FRIGGIN' SAN ANDREAS MEETS VICE CITY!!!
*faints*
