Cascade Of Awesome GTAV Rumors Hit The Internet

You're craving Grand Theft Auto V information. The second that debut video popped up, you wanted more.

Well, it seems an unknown journalist decided to put his job on the line and leak a ton of early GTAV details. The question is: are you buying it?

As you can see, there's a horde of info to digest. The inside source says GTAV will push the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 to the very limits and in fact, Los Santos is "at least 4 times bigger than Liberty City in GTAIV." Here's a quick snippet:

"For instance, we saw the main character ( an African/American, early 30's) travel by car from the center of Los Santos into the wildnerness and it took over 15 minutes. The views were incredible from farmhouses with cattle, huge wind farms, an oil refinery which appeared to be living and breathing with nearly 100 NPCs working on machinery, operating vehicles, lifting and loaded, etc, unlike the gas works in GTA 4 which seemed to only house a few NPC at a time. The forests are more beautiful than those in RDR and featured people camping, young NPC drinking and dancing around campfires, people riding dirt bikes and jumping over logs, streams, etc. The water effects, forna, plants, trees all looked beautiful."

They also say the shooting mechanics have been "greatly improved," there are more climbable elements (ladders, overhand climbing, etc.), planes to fly (they're back!), way more interior locations (ranging from malls to police stations), and drastic changes for the vehicles; they can be upgraded and maintained. In fact, you'll even have to purchase gas if you're low.

All of this sounds titillating, but in that description of the main character above, the source says he's African/American. Didn't we see the main character in that debut video? The white guy surveying the city? At about the 41-second mark? And since when does someone in their early 30s head out west to retire? Well, if they were part of major crime, I suppose... Anyway, if all of this is true, GTAV is gonna be silly amazing.

...ugh...I admire your enthusiasm...but that honestly would just be...too much. I mean I can understand the whole, "Well what's wrong with killing kids in the game, you kill adults! What's the difference?" Well at least some of those adult NPCs can defend themselves with a weapon or by punching back. ...a kid...I mean...that's just sad. It could be crude humor for some...but still.

Honestly if they have kid NPCs in the game, they might as well create a section in the game for dog fighting.

I remember sitting atop a building with my heli in Vice City just snipin' folks for no good reason. Blowin heads of and such without a trace of remorse...For some reason if I imagine taking the head off a little boy with a one of those big swirling lollipops walkin' down the sidewalk I suddenly feel like a psychopath...Leave the kids out of GTA, I honestly never even realized they weren't there until now.

Christ, maybe calm the hell down. These aren't spoilers; they're RUMORS. And since when is anything in there even considered a spoiler? Is there story information? What's wrong with you?

And for the record, I have no idea what you're talking about concerning the comments. There were never "hundreds of comments" in every article. In fact, that only happened extremely rarely. We get just about the same number of comments on a daily basis as we've always gotten and by the way, many of the commenters have started posting in the forums, which we asked them to do, so the site is more balanced.

Also, you may not have noticed that we have a show in Home now, we have more ads, and there's more content overall. It's REALLY insulting to say the site is "dying" when I go to all this work to make it grow, which is what it's doing. Then again, maybe you have admin access to stats and traffic? Oh, you don't?

Then SHUT it. Caught me at a bad time of year, buddy boy.

Gotta say, the gta series isn't obe of my fav's. They are fun games, but not something I look forward too. Either way though, this one sounds pretty decent. I'm sure it'll provide for some hours of entertainment.

Anyways, what's up with the vallarta person? Havnt really been super active here lately so I feel like I've missed something. Is this person a troll? Or they just gettin jollies?

Still don't like the idea of having to purchase gas to make your car go... That was one of the things that they were going to try and do in GTA: SA (supposedly). Didn't like the idea then either. *shrugs* Major pain in the back-side if you ask me. Especially when you're on the run from the cops.

Yo Ben, rumour has it that the guy around the 40 second mark is the protagonist, it also appears that he is Tommy Vercetti from Vice City. Also its believed that the African American is CJ as he is wearing the same wife beater and pants that are default in SA.

Vice was in the 80's, EARLY 80's at that. Going off that Tommy would be in his 60's or 70's. So I'm thinkin if he is anywhere in here, it's going to be a small part, MAYBE as someone you get missions from. That sed, that bank job (I'm guessing that what that was) where the guys get out of the van dressed in pest control gear Has Tommy written all over it. I think it's Tommy's son that we'll be playin. Next best thing to Tommy in my opinion.

Oh man that was quite a read up there! But I can say that I've been in this site long enough to at least know Ben a little in some aspects or lets say, "thinkings" and let me tell you that those 2 were screaming and begging for a ban-hammer. Just to insult someone's job or saying stupid trash like that, that's way off-limits. This site has a great community, and has to be taken care of. It has been a lot of work. Those who are part of this since many years now like myself I'm sure can understand this. And if you want to act like those 2 kids (physically or mentally) simply go to other site that tolerate this. Multiple times Ben has said that if you don't like something or etc. you are free to go to other places.

I'm sorry but those 2 made me angry, I had to tell this. I mean, Who the hell do they think they? Again, sorry if I disrespected someone or this site for this but it's just a friendly reminder that things are right the way they are Ben, and that we're looking forward and hope for more great things in the future for this site, and may I also complement, not only for this site, but also for yourself.

Anyways, on topic: these are great news, I really hope they are true. Looking forward to play 150+ hours on this.

I wouldn't like that because it could keep the protagonist from being remembered like Niko and others. Or lets say it in another way, it may lead to a lack of personality in the lead character and story.

@Godsdream: That is such a weird claim that I've heard from others too. I remember all the characters I have created in games earlier - many of them much better than the premade ones.
They can still be featured in cutscenes and so forth, just like premade characters. Remember, in GTA your character in the cutscenes wear the same clothes as you've dressed him with in the game (ergo not prerendered)?
The exact same cutscenes could still be shown even if you could do more customisations, the same story could unfold. The only difference would be that you had more influence on how he looked. All the rest could be the exact same. Exactly the same story, missions, events, etc.

@BeamBoom Can you tell me how a protagonist have personality if you create every aspect of his/her?? If Rockstar manage to create a game where the character is foreign it's personality. If they want it to be fat, it's personality. If you change that it misses the point and there will be lack of personality in protagonist and in the story.

I think it's just some wishlist some journalist made up to get more hits or something. In the trailer, Los Santos didn't look much bigger than Liberty City. If Rockstar were to make a big map with a lot of city surface and a lot of countryside surface in one map, they would much more probably make San Andreas with multiple, though slightly smaller, cities. That's what I presume most the GTA fans want, including me.

This is the FIRST trailer. They can't blow it all off in one trailer, a year before the game launches. There will be more impressive trailers ahead - plenty of them.

You hardly see anything of Los Santos in this trailer - and no overviews! It's like a handful short snippets - they could all be from a *gigantic* city for all we know. Plus, you did see the planes: Ergo, you need land to fly them over! And we did see huge mountains: Rockstar *never* show off anything you then cannot find in their games too.

At least the trailer continues Rockstars tradition of actual ingame footage from day one, and not those ridiculous all-cgi trailers the lesser developers try to gain attention with (Yes I am looking at you, Dead Island, with a suspicious notion towards Lollipop Chainsaw too)

I hope this is all true GTA 4 was good an all, but left out a lot of things, also to mentions the ps3 version was inferior in graphical performance and framerate has issues the online is broken as inviting friends is completely messed up. The online isn't very user friednly.

I read this a few days back, if true, count me in. For those complaining about spoiler alerts, you must not have been around the internet when RUMORS and SPECULATIONS hit the net. This isn't a rare occurrence for any game. Anyway, whether or not it's true, these are all rumors on game improvements and additions(such as canoeing and rock climbing). Oops, spoiler alert. Anyway, thank you Ben for the news.

These rumours are very intriguing. Some are a little out there, but most seem pretty plausible.

This sounds great. I always hated the way that most industrial areas in GTAIV were like ghost towns. Especially Port Tudor (the big harbor area in East Alderney), which is one of my favorite places to mess around in.

The big, open forest seems pretty interesting as well, hopefully it'll be as rich as the ones in Red Dead Redemption.

Controlling airplanes seems pretty sweet as well, IF they do it right. And IF it's true. In Saints Row 2 it was pathetic. Sure, it was really easy to maneuver them, but that also made it really boring. One good example is how the really big, tourist planes in Just Cause 2 were controlled. Just like big chunks of heavy metal rolling around the airport, taking half a soccer field to turn. That's the good way.

Like I said, these rumours are all very intriguing, we'll see how many are actually true in the coming months, I guess.

I been trying to tell ppl according 2 rumors i've heard, GTA V will have multiple protagonist I believe the voice on the trailer is a hispanic person I think u may also b able to play as Vercetti and CJ as well.
