Detroit Pitcher Justin Verlander Lands MLB 2K12 Cover

Justin Verlander had a fantastic year. He was one win shy of the 25 plateau and very nearly led his team to the American League pennant.

And although he didn't win the World Series and he wasn't the first pitcher since Bob Welch in 1990 to record 25 wins in a season, Verlander has a different sort of honor.

2K Games has announced that the Detroit Tigers pitcher will be featured on the cover of MLB 2K12. It'll go nicely along with his Player of the Year and American League Outstanding Pitcher wins (Player's Choice Awards). He'll probably be named the Cy Young winner, too. But hey, you're on a video game cover!

Obviously, that's what matters most. Good thing the baseball athletes don't suffer the "Madden curse." And don't think that curse has taken a year off; Peyton Hillis is having a crappy year for Cleveland, mostly because of that bothersome hamstring.

I was hoping he land on MLB 12 the Show cover because the Show series is a better baseball game in my opinion. I hope the MLB 12 the show crew reach out to Miguel Cabrera to put him on their cover.

No way...Freese is TOTALLY owning that cover...yup reserved for him. What he pulled of this post season was just amazing! Quite frankly hes has some of, if not the best, post season moments ever. This was a very sloppy series IMO but again the things Freese did to solidify the Cards victory is just amazing. Plus I a Saint Louis resident ;)

Good for him! He's definitely a great pitcher and he deserves all the honors he's gotten. Now I hope Ryan Braun gets on the cover of The Show :)
