Modern Warfare 3 Pre-Orders End Up At Around 9 Million
Battlefield 3 sold five million units right off the bat; this was on the strength of three million in pre-order sales.
Well, in direct comparison and according to Lazard Capital Markets analyst Atul Bagga, Activision's Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 has tallied close to a whopping nine million in pre-order sales. That's 70% over 2009's Modern Warfare 2 and 55% above last year's Black Ops. Lazard Capital expects MW3 to sell over 20 million units by the end of 2012; for the record, Black Ops sold 25 million all told over the course of its lifespan.
Yeah, you can bet that a whole lot of people are currently waiting outside their local GameStop, lying in wait for midnight. Maybe I'm just too old for the concept of midnight launches; I can't think of any game I want bad enough that I need to have it in my hands a few hours before it's available on store shelves.
That used to be any new Final Fantasy but...well, whatever.
