Dead Island Patch Raises Level Cap, Offers Other Tweaks

You've been playing Dead Island like mad, but you're already maxed out...and that's just plain annoying, isn't it?

Well, as revealed at the game's official blog, developer Techland will release a new patch for consoles that raises the level cap in the open-world zombie-bashin' adventure to 60.

The patch also adds stability and interface alterations, along with several new features: weapon crates will now boast "improved rewards," kicking will now drain stamina (no abusing the kick, punk), and Purna can carry 50% more ammunition. Players will also be able to adjust enemy levels for different co-op players, the infected damage has been reduced, quest XP awards have been adjusted, players respawn with more health, and there are new blueprints for weapon mods.

Check the full list of upgrades and tweaks through the link above. Dead Island is definitely one of those games that brings fans back for more...but we're still wondering about that "Dead World" patent. What's up with that, Techland? Gonna spill the beans?

Finally beat it over the weekend, too bad this is coming so late but I'm glad I got to abuse the kick. I really needed to. I wonder what the cap was at before? I got to level 35 or 36 I think and it just became impossible to kill enough zombies to keep leveling up so I can't imagine 60.

In a way this makes me glad that I couldn't afford to pick this game up till now. To be in worlds position where he finished the game just before the patch must be a pain in the ass, at least now I finally got it, I get to optimise my experience thanks to the tweaks. Perhaps my ailing wallet is actually turning out to be a benefit :-)

Still haven't picked this up, too many games out this month. Sounds like a pretty good patch though.

Cool, I like how this game will already have all the fixes & bonuses, and all at a much cheaper price too once I finally get it.

Awesome glad they're still supporting the game. Picked it up a couple weeks ago, about 80% through the campaign so far blame bf3...

This will definitely qualify for a replay though, can't wait cause I play purna and god its a bi*** running out of ammo every 10 kills lol...

And didn't techland say the disease spread to the rest of the world a while back?... Kinda makes sense for them to name a sequel dead world as it most likely won't take place on the same island.

Maybe a dead universe after lol

they REALLY need to reduce the dammage a weapon takes in this!
the whole fun of this game is slicing zombies limbs off, but every fight i get into i find myself spamming kick because i dont want to break my precious weapons.
thats like buying a Ferrari then leaving it under the covers because you dont want to get it dirty!
takes the whole fun out of owning it!
