SCEA Confirms Jak & Daxter Trilogy

We've been hearing about the possibility for a while and now, we know it's official.

It started when "Jak & Daxter HD" popped up at a South African game retailer's website. Then Germany's game ratings board listed something called the "Jak & Daxter Trilogy Edition." Well, it was about time to clear things up.

SCEA confirmed to IGN that in fact, the Jak & Daxter Trilogy is real and it'll be coming to the PlayStation 3, presumably some time next year. Here's the statement:

"We can confirm the Jak and Daxter Collection is coming and will have more news to share shortly."

Jak & Daxter was one of the PS2's first platforming gems and since then, the two heroes have gone their separate ways. However, fans have been pining for a reunion for a long time, and Naughty Dog has gone on record saying they'd love to deliver a high-definition overhaul. HD remakes are popular this generation and J&D definitely deserves that high-gloss attention, don't you think?

I think it might be that company Bluepoint who is bringing out most all HD remakes. They don't really mess with the source material. Just add trophies and update graphics. :)

This is great, this series is a gem, though can't say I would purchase it since I already own all three and the racing game for the PS2.

Nice!. i was to busy playing GTA 3. vice city & san andreas last generation and never played these so this'll be a good chance to finally check em out.

Sony, why must you make so much awesome stuff? My wallet hates you so much right now.

So, Naughty Dog, I will soon own all your games. Crash Bandicoot 1 - 3, and Crash Team Racing. Uncharted trilogy, and now Jak and Daxter trilogy in HD for PS3.

Sony had better make the PS4 backwards compatible, there's just too many awesome games on PS3 to give up.

i still own jak and daxter and jak II. never did play jak 3 but i always wanted to. i didnt finish jak II so never wanted to move on.

Never played these, so I definitely be getting them. As Qwark said, now a Ratchet collection is in order as I have never played them either!

One of the best series on the PS2 for me. I remember being SO excited for the third installment when it released. Good times! I will be pre-ordering this collection, it deserves to be in my collection! :D

Double F*** Yeah!!!!! Finally I can complete these games and now with an HD gloss and all neatly packed together. Oh and Im from South Africa and we never get mentioned in terms of gaming, so yeah go South Africa, one day we will have a respectable game studio even if I have to help start it.

finally a collection thats worth awhile Sly, ICO & Shadow, Metal Gear Soild HD Collection & this are totally worth full price. I second the Ratchet & Clank HD collection & Why not a Grand Theft Auto HD collection?

Alot of people "miss" playing these kind of games on these hot titles that were on the PS2.
Of course we all can't play every single PS2 game.

well with this series getting a HD remake I hope this will lead to the ratchet and clank and soul reaver games also getting a HD remake

FIN-A-FRIGGIN'-LLY!!! Can't wait for this. As soon as Gamestop allows pre-orders, $40 down and waiting.

Never played through the series (well, the first Jak and Daxter for about 20 minutes and loved what I played) but Naughty Dog = kickass game developer so that's enough for me.

Now all I want to see is Ratchet & Clank, Kingdom Hearts, Max Payne, Shadow Hearts, and Dark Cloud all in HD. Then I'll finally retire my PS2.

I am excited for this collection. I never played the originals so playing them for the first time in HD will be a treat. I still haven't bought the Sly Collection. Slacking on my HD purchases. Jak and Daxter HD, Sly Collection HD, MGS HD and The ICO & Shadow of the Colossus Collection are must buys for me. Like DanceMachine55 said, the PS4 better be backwards compatible!!
