Rumor: Ninja Theory Asks Dante Fans To Play DMC Early

If true, more developers should follow suit, especially when working on a controversial project from the point of view of long-time fans.

According to a post in the NeoGAF forums, Ninja Theory is sending out special invitations to "top DMC players." Supposedly, the following invite has been received via e-mail by some UK gamers:

"Hi,

Im part of the team currently developing the new Devil May Cry title at Ninja Theory and I wanted to get in touch to see if youd like to come in and play the game. Essentially Im inviting in a very select few really top end DMC players to come and play through a section of the game and talk to some of our team about your experience.

Well pay for travel to and from the studio and will also provide lunch.

Let me know if this sounds of interest and I can give you some more details."

We've never heard of such a thing before. Typically, designers only allow journalists and other members of the media to see a game early. Still, it's a great idea, although we wonder how they qualify "top end DMC players." I'm confused as to how they know who has played what...the first three titles in the series were on the PS2, and I just don't see how anybody - Ninja Theory or Capcom - could know who played them.

There's something about the wording of that message that seems strange, too. But I hope it's true, 'cuz it proves Ninja Theory doesn't want to disappoint the hardcore followers.

Well I'm thinking that they're going purely off the leaderboards on DMC 4. It's a cool idea being that they've got a lot of backlash which seems purely based on the change of appearance. The gameplay looks DMCish..It's clear they're tweaking some the history here but it's a reboot. I agree more companies should take this approach to get more in depth feedback from people who spend immense time playing a game.

Fail trololol!

You can't possibly be serious. The game looks good. DANTE may not my the game does.

No animosity...just really aggravated at the people who refuse to give this game a chance yet waist their time on mindless shooters. Not saying you do just in general.

I've finished all the DMC games on Dante Must Die Mode. If only I could leave my posting in Korea to do this...

I'm really interested how this is going to turn out. I'm a big fan of DMC, and I know this has potential, but I'm still skeptical.

You're right, Ben, the wording is strange. It doesn't really sound like anything official.

what I mean is, it sounds like something someone typed up from their bedroom. If it was something official, I would have expected more details and a more professional tone.

Hello, I am XXXXXXXXX from Ninja Theory LTD. and I would like to invite you to our offices in Cambridge to test our current build of the new Devil May Cry title. My colleagues and I would like feedback from gamers who have extensively played previous titles from this series, as it is the gamers opinion that we value....

I guess you get it, I don't have to rewrite the whole letter.

Capcom should let Ninja Theory do Onimusha after DmC. To me Onimusha is more up Ninja Theory's ally because unlike DMC, Onimusha wasn't as combat heavy and more story driven. I'm still looking forward to DmC tho.
