Uncharted 3 First-Day Sales: 3.8 Million
The game could sell 10 million units and we still don't think it'd be enough.
Sony Computer Entertainment has announced that day one sales for Naughty Dog's Uncharted 3: Drake's Deception hit 3.8 million. Said SCEE spokesman Nick Chaplin:
"Uncharted 3 is a blockbuster and these incredible sales figures reflect that. Consumers are clearly as eager to play the game as critics were to heap praise upon it, and the team at Naughty Dog deserve this fantastic reception at retail."
Thus far, the Uncharted series has sold over 8 million units, and you can expect that number to hit maybe 14 million once we get the lifetime sales numbers for Uncharted 3. There's every chance that Drake's Deception will become the biggest selling PlayStation 3 exclusive title in the console's history, and again, we say the game deserves all the love it can get.
Even with all the huge titles that released in 2011, we have to say that Uncharted 3 is a cut above. Naughty Dog has an uncanny ability to take everything we know and love and reach a new level of immersion and involvement. Now, how's about Uncharted 4 as a launch title for the PS4?

I got as far as a little past the spider comment. And I have to disagree. This style of game needs to have something inexplicably creepy to add to the mystique. Indiana Jones has creepy things that add nothing, too, like that dinner where they served eyeballs. It added nothing to the story, but it added a mystical element that adds a little piece of wonder.

Really though, it just amazes me that when Sony posts large numbers, the media says its shipped, but if M$ does it its units sold. Just recently Steam's database was hacked and account info was exposed, yet no one blamed Steam for bad security like Sony was accused of. The gaming media is filled with bias xbots that sucks off M$ everyday of the week.

"Despite some confusion this morning about whether the number represented units shipped or units sold, Sony has now confirmed to IGN that Uncharted 3: Drake's Deception sold 3.8 million copies worldwide on its first day in stores."

Even if it is shipped numbers, that still means at least 1.5 million were probably sold the first week/day/whatever. So that still means Uncharted 3 is going to sell like a mother which is great for the industry, Naughty Dog, Sony, and for us as fans/consumers.

Kudos to ND and Sony for not letting Uncharted1 low sales kill the franchise. I'm halfway through the game and loving it.
It just makes me wonder if Ninja Theory hadn't chickened out(Sold Out?),stuck with the PS3 and delivered Heavenly Sword 3, I believe they could be seeing this kind of success :(

U3 may have had better graphics and melee and some truly unbelievable moments that pushed the series in new directions, but it also had silly spiders that added nothing to the plot, puzzles that were stacked on top of each other in the early parts of the game, which dulled the pacing. The ending and the truck chase were retreads of Uncharted 2's ending and cutscene as well which was disappointing.
Chloe who I love felt very forced here and didn't really serve a purpose. And the desert gameplay, while a good idea felt really disjointed. The struggle wasn't paced well, every time I'd get into Drake's struggle, we'd move forward in time to new moment.
However, so many fantastic moments, and overall a great game. Melee is excellent, the chase sections are like watching visual poetry. That origin story? That made a similar scene from The Last Crusade look amateur.
The cruise ship, the plane infiltration and its actual set piece were all brilliant beyond belief as well. Especially the actual set piece. Just... my jaw.. is still on the floor.
Some excellent cutscenes as well that spanned from making my skin crawl, to palpable emotion, to making my damn heart break, to leaving me speechless because of the power of the moment.
And the multiplayer is one of the finest multiplayer components ever released. While I don't like load outs in U2 and prefer U2's level design over U3's, there's no denying that Naughty Dog makes the best multiplayer experience out there. Over 7 full 24 hour days I put into U2 and I'm going to triple that with U3. Great level design, smart kick back system which revolutionizes the killtreaks concept.
Great, varied game modes with excellent co op as well.
Naughty Dog worked very hard on this and despite some structural and pacing flaws especially from London Underground to Yemen, it's still a hell of a game. A first rate studio like Naughty Dog deserves this support because they consistently have made a great series that is finely crafted, with great characters and a rich universe. U2 is one of my favorite single player campaigns ever and is my second fav of this gen (after MGS4) And some of the best multiplayer i've ever played from U2 and U3.
Looking forward to seeing what they do with Uncharted 4. Hoping they revert back to to the picture perfect pacing of U2. Anyone else agree with me on that, or am I crazy?
