DICE Won't Tolerate Cheating Or Exploiting In BF3

Hey cheaters. Yeah, you. Real gamers don't think too highly of you, and neither does DICE.

If you're concerned about cheaters in Battlefield 3, DICE is on your side and is prepared to be both vigilant and harsh when it comes to offenders. Just check out some of their recent Twitter updates; a few of the more important ones have been summarized at The Gaming Liberty:

"We take cheating and exploiting very seriously in Battlefield 3 and want to make it clear that it will not be tolerated..."

And then:

"This week we’ve banned hundreds of offending accounts and have stats-wiped accounts for exploiting (such as boosting)."

So yeah, don't think you're going to get away with extensive cheating. To be perfectly honest, even though I'm not much of an online player, I can't see the fascination in cheating. Isn't that a completely hollow victory? Don't you know you aren't actually winning anything? Or is it just fun to be a di**? Maybe I'm just old-fashioned in my belief that if I accomplish something, I want to say I accomplished it.

And DICE will continue to keep an eye out.

"We’ll continue to be monitoring and taking action against the minority that doesn’t respect the integrity of the game."

So, you know. Take that.

Well, there are people either searching for treasure in the "Atlantis of the Sands", swooping and sleuthing around in "Arkham City" (especially tonight right?) fighting on fully destructible "Battlefields", heeding the "Call of Duty" (the latest objective codenamed "Modern Warfare 3").

Or heck, Skyim. Take your pick. :)

I already found the treasures of The Atlantis of the Sands, restored a modicum of peace to Arkham City, and survived the Battlefield (while ignoring the Call of Duty). So, I'm now traipsing about the vast wilderness that is Skyrim!

"Such as boosting?" Well there's a slippery slope. They're able to determine when people are "boosting?" I can see some mistakes being made in that regards and some fans getting mighty upset. I hope they know what they're doing.

Indeed, I mean...how can you tell if a teammate of your squad isn't legitimately repairing, healing or constantly re-supplying you. I do it often. In a tank battle, jump out while friend's inside and just heal while you fight. And repeat in multiple battles. I mean, I assume if a lobby is named, "Get <insert name> ribbon!" or stuff like that, obviously everyone in there should get in trouble. But in normal servers..dunno.

its actually not really hard to spot. When you see someone who has 11,000 points in one match yet has no kills and no deaths, you've found urself a booster

Wolfeh, thats legitimate gameplay. When you have guys staying in he back of their base, doing nothing, yet have high scores, you know whats going on. I sometimes disrupt boosters if im playing on hardcore, simply because its funny

This is something IW should do. Already the PS3 leaderboards are exploited. People having an average of 2,000 kills a game is just dumb especially when they've only played 19 games for just a couple hours. But IW has never seemed to care about this. This may not be as important as actual cheating in game, by exploiting glitches or other means of cheating but it's still ridiculous.

YES!!! DICE are my new heroes!! Well, next to Naughty Dog of course. :)

If there's one thing I can't stand, it's cheaters or players who wrongfully exploit features to get ahead. I don't mind losing to someone much better than me, but I hate cheaters.

DICE, you have made my purchase of Battlefield 3 all the sweeter now. Will be returning MW3 once I've finished the campaign and get Skyrim instead. :)

Cheaters are blights on online gaming. I don't mind so much if someone hacks their stats (I don't really care so much for leaderboards, I'm there to play the game), but exploiting glitches in-game to have an edge on legitimate players ruins the experience (the Javelin glitch was the reason I stopped playing MW2, for example, and I only played SOCOM:Con in rooms with people I knew were 'clean' - and the number of glitchers we had to kick was disappointing).

Not sure why people do it - looking for short-term emotional one-upmanship probably, and a bit too thick to realise they're actually engaging in a game of one-downmanship!

hmm,
interesting I think highly time i pick up a military first person shooter. This i can respect with my sixty dollars. Thats one thing i hate about online military first person shooters is all the hacking ruining it for us regular gamers who don't give a **** about killstreaks k/death raisco or what ever you hardcore gamers call it. I'm about fun on or offline. This game just jumped to the top of my list.

I can sleep soundly knowing I'm probably a better player than at least 70% of those at the top of that so called "leaderboard" when u can almost consistantly be in the top five in almost every rush game. And get well over 3000 pts each match all with an abakan which is probably one of the least used weapons id say i play just fine

boosting isnt as hard to tell as you think. 60% accuracy is mighty high, and could be a sign that you are either a good shooter, or boosting by having ur friend on another team and taking shots at him.

plus, with battlelog. com, they monitor a lot of stats and look out for suspicious behavior

Well I am really just questioning this whole concept. Since every average person who plays fps games generally have a 0.7 - 1.2 Kill/death ratio. My question is if somebody who sucks at fps plays battlfield 3 anywyas because thier friends are but ends up on the other team and sucks horriably will they get banned??

But never the less I only cheat in a game if it's single player. HEHEHEH

cheaters, i think i missed something. the only thing i saw was names on the leaderboards with an insane amount of point and multiple "accounts" with the same name. one name has a bunch of points and the identical psn id has a different number of points.

Played MW3.

There is still quick scope glitching exploiting the auto-aim malfunction.

I'm leaning more in favor of DICE as the days go on.

Boosting is mainly done for getting ribbons or levelling quick. (I would imagine) It wouldnt be hard to get 6 buddies join a dead server and have at it. I'm sure that's what they are looking for. Also, if a guy has 30 kills and an opponent has 30 deaths it isn't too hard to figure out that they are boosting kills.

Cheating on the other hand, is lag switching or causing your internet to lag out so you are harder to kill. When you see a guy teleporting when you know he is dead to rights, I would suspect that more. I have no idea how they could monitor that though.

It took me a week to get all the ribbons, especially the air combat one. Sucks that people can just boost it, if they really want to, in 1 game.

im over the BS on BF3... update the fu**in patches and rid the system of cheaters.. you're brand is losing value- people are fed up and leaving the game for good- next a**hole that aim bots me or knifes me i will track down you address via your playstation account and beat your pu*** ass
