Man Can't Pick Up MW3, So He Threatens Employees
Disclaimer: I will freely admit I'm posting these stories to prove to the wandering mainstream eye that NOT all gamers are freaky, dangerous addicts. That much will be clear in looking at a journalist's critical reaction and the reaction of readers.
Shortly after a man learned his supposedly pre-ordered copy of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 was sold out at a Best Buy, he decided to threaten employees. According to Colorado's 9News, 31-year-old Lomorin Sar was arrested after witnesses told police Sar "became angry and irate with the customer service desk shortly after midnight."
His game wasn't in stock and he started asking employees when they'd be leaving so he could shoot them in the parking lot. Apparently, he also threatened to blow up the store. Thankfully, this situation didn't end in violence, but we have to assume that anti-game activists - always keeping a careful eye out for what games can "do" to people - are going to pounce all over this. It doesn't help that the game in question is all about violence.
Sad.

None the less if someone sold my preorder for a game I've been longing for, Skyrim for instance I'd be a little more then pissed and someone would get yelled at.
I'd like to know if he did actually had a preorder or just was trying to get a copy of the game, anyways you never know what people are going through, not trying to justify his actions I'm sure he's just a "nut" lol but just saying
If his story does checks out then I know where to never make a preorder, that's fucked up on Best Buy's part as well, especially all these vamped up gaming adds they've been airing lately...

But, while we're on the topic: of course, there is a reason to think a terrorist could plan an attack at any of the targets you've mentioned that have happened elsewhere in the world. They are low-security, and centers of populace. However, as I mentioned, ON US SOIL, though those remain possible targets, they remain unlikely ones IN THE US, due to lack of socio-economic/politcal importance IN THE US, and moreover, the outburst at the Bestbuy was an unlikely example of Mideastern terrorism. Capiche?

If that same guy was buying the new Harry Potter book, and the store had accidentally sold it, would people be lobbying against banning all Harry Potter books? No. Why? It's popular.
Same goes with CoD, it's a popular item, and it's popularity is what caused the anger when it wasn't available. Only problem is, its content is violent, interactive AND it's a video game. Harry Potter was violent, especially in the books, but no one seemed to care!!
I've seen far more disturbing things in Saw films than in any video game. Only thing that can outdo it in video game form is Manhunt 3. Let's hope Rockstar don't sink THAT low.

Talk about a guy with some problems. If can't get by a week or a day or two with out his prishies overhyped overrated latest shooter he shouldn't be gaming at all. You "hardcore" everyday, a new game everyweek gamers make me sick. You do know there's more to life then videogames.

I once had to wait a week on a pre-order (of the Infamous special edition). I stopped by the store every day it was open, asking if they had my copy yet. The store clerks kept telling me no, while there were stacks of special editions behind them. After one week, they just called management who told them to just give me a special edition they got standing behind them...
Anyways, if you just keep your calm it'll all work out, maybe you have to wait a few days, but hell, it's a game.

I have encountered some poor customer service before(who hasn't?). As a result sometimes violent thoughts have ran through my head as well, but I was able to keep my cool.
During the PS2's launch I witnessed several customers berate Wal Mart employees becuase they were sold out of PS2s. What was sad is that it was the adults/parents that were doing this. People were just downright hostile.

As to the guy who was proud of his dad for threatening a cashier, here's how I handled that. I asked them to leave, now and if they refused and continued to rant, I informed them that we had the right to ask anyone to leave the premises and if he did not, I would call the cops and charge them with trespassing. That is what I would have done to dear old dad.

We should lobby against office chairs.
Stupid people are going to be stupid, that will never end and i hate seeing people blame this on whatever they happen to be pissed off about on any given day.
Hopefully the media doesnt turn this into another mess, but knowing how the media works...
