EA Reinstates Battlefield 1943 Bonus For BF3 PS3 Owners

EA shouldn't get away with being a "de-gifter" (check "Seinfeld" reference if unfamiliar).

This past summer, EA promised PlayStation 3 owners that if they bought Battlefield 3, they'd receive a free copy of the downloadable title, Battlefield 1943. But just around the time BF3 hit store shelves, EA backed out of the deal. The company is now facing a lawsuit for reneging on the deal.

Maybe it was the lawsuit that did it, but EA has now confirmed that PS3 owners who bought BF3 will indeed receive the 2009 PSN game. Apparently, there were some "misunderstandings" about the deal in question, so EA has decided to reinstate the bonus for PS3 owners "beginning this month." Our friends in Europe can grab Battlefield 1943 for free on November 26, while US gamers have to wait until December 10.

Visit EA's website to learn how to claim your voucher. Well, at least EA is doing the right thing.

Yes! It's about time EA stopped to think for a second. But if the deal was in question, why the F did you spur out saying you made the deal in the first place?

I heard 1943 is awesome but I'd rather of had free DLC after Karkland myself... I just don't see myself putting any significant time into it and BF3 at the same time... I'm busy enough with all the rpgs I'm catching up on.

BF3 is superior in every thinkable way so when you already own that game I really don't see why you would want to spend time playing 1943.
I agree with you; A free DLC would be a lot better.

But hey - a freebie is a freebie after all. :)

Theres no way they would give DLC for free!!

1943 has went through its sales cycle and giving it away free doesn't cost much at all.

DLC on the other hand just cost them a bunch to develop and represents a significant amount of potential profit.

I'm glad they finally came to their senses. I can't respect a company that doesn't keep up with their promises.

But its disappointing that its not included on the disk....

i wish there was something they could do for those who already have Battlefield 1943, like being able to import a weapon from 1943 or something like that. Wouldn't mind having a garrand selectable again in bf3

Yeah a lawsuit usually tends to knock sense into blatant liars. Why EA ever thought they'd get away with this is an absolute mind boggler. Good on gamers for suing when suing was due.

Due to the lawsuit, it seems that EA has begrudging seen the error of their ways.

But it's a sad state of affairs It's just a that they had to be rightly put in their place by the same gaming community that they serve.

Now while you're at it EA, give us back our rightful manuals too!

its funny how a law suit can quickly turn the impossible to the easily done.
this and my court case against $ony for instance.
nope sorry its impossible for us to reinstate your account your bank has to do it.
my bank does jack, i file law suit, 2 days after law suit is filed i get a phone call saying oh we magically found a way to reinstate your account.
yea, i thought you would!
pretty sad how you have to sue a company before they will do what there legally bound to do!

nice to see this actually covers all regions, and not just the states like what THQ is doing.......
THQ, where the hell is my free copy of saints row 2!?

1943 is awesome but it is totally dated when it is compared to bf3. The one thing i love about bf 1943 though is being able to call in some bombers to annihlate the map. Pure awesomeness. Oh and you'll get somewhat of a glimpse of what Wake Island(favorite map in 1943) will look like in the back to karkand expansion.
