Battlefield 3 Semi-Auto Weapons Will "Fire Smoother"

Well, you know, sometimes the old way is better...even in the uber-progressive world of interactive entertainment.

A patch is coming your way for Battlefield 3 and it will feature a number of upgrades, alterations and enhancements. But one of the most recent changes might come as great news to fans of Battlefield: Bad Company 2.

If you check BF3 game designer Alan Kertz's Twitter page, you'll see that he's working on improving the firing style of semi-automatic weapons. How? By making 'em fire like they did in BC2, of course.

"Working with a coder today to make Semiautomatic weapons fire smoother (like it was in BC2). Still some work to be done, hopefully soon."

It isn't known if this change will be ready for the upcoming patch, which we know includes in-game VOIP, a few changes to the squad and in-game interfaces, and a bunch of nerfs. But what do you think about changing the semi-automatic weapon fire? Did you prefer them in BC2?

There are plenty of other requests from avid gamers; DICE has fielded probably a gazillion multiplayer complaints and suggestions since BF3 hit the market in late October. But that's the bonus of this fancy new generation- game developers can update and make games better on the fly. ...yeah, it's a double-edged sword.

My only complaint is that my squad gets split up all the time.

I have probably bought a grand in the last few years of nerf stuff. My kid can never keep track of those damn darts.

Jawknee, we'll see what improves are done, but I have to say, currently, as the game stands, it is pretty good. My only complaint is a felt the controller lag is a little too much. I felt BFC2 was more responsive. Other than that I am happy with the game.

If these updates really make it that much better, then why not I say?

Also, Jawknee, did you purchase Skyrim? Had any issues with the lag?

I think I prefer how BF3 plays to BC2. I quite like the controls the way they are.

Nope, didn't get Skyrim. Bethseda games don't appeal to me. Too many bugs. Plus I'm not into the whole idea of a first person RPG.

The worst part about developers being able to update so easily is that they depend on it...

Too many times a game has a update on release day, and a lot of times the update fixes a few major bugs that shouldn't have ever been on the disk in the first place. but that might be the publishers fault...

BF3 has been unplayable for me for about 3 weeks now. I start a game i get killed the 1st time then i respawn with no guns just a crosshairs. Im running around defensless and everytime i die i respawn consistently without guns onscreen unplayable. Then i quit the main menu im stuck on a endless load screen. So i quit to the dashboard then restart the game as a whole. Jump online to face the same unplayable experience. Also in the single player i get stuck on the endless load screen after i get killed.

This all started on holloween experiencing BF3 unplayable nightmares then fed up and pissed off my $64 was robbed Next day nov 1 U3 release day i sold BF3 for U3 (best choice i made). Fast foward to MW3 release i buy it hoping to forget BF3 and move on i play MW3 till i get to lev 71 just 9 lev short of prestige extreme bordem and fustration sets in MW3 is MW2.5 same sh*t different day. I lose interest in playing it completely. Reason i avoided buy elite cuz i knew id get tired of mw3 fast. And I missed BF3 as it was growing on me it is more immersive. I figure issues would be fixed now. 11/24 i go to gamestop to support the used game market sold MW3 and buy new bf3 limited editon sinse 1st bf3 copy i buy was standard editon. Officially i just supported EA/DICE by buying a 2nd copy. Im kinda pumped and relived mw3 burden is out of my life i can just have fun. i race my 89 fox home Fire up the 360 and surround sound boot up bf3, download a 167 mb update log on a bf3 server online only to experience the same godforsaken unplayable broken garbage that has manifested my system.

Now is this my punishment for getting it on xbox? I looked online and apparently its happening on all platforms. Theres a few youtube vids demonstrating the same problems im facing. 3 weeks im stuck with an unplayable gme. It was fun when it worked but this loong same unfixed issues is anyone here having similar problems i have? How can the 2 biggest shooters of 2011 be the biggest pile of crap of 2011? Is there a patch incoming for these fixees? I dont wanna sell bf3 again thankgod skyrim is a blast to play im trying to wait it out but man i was starting enjoy BF3 but what good is a game if its unplayable and broken? Its useless really

Jack, apparently a "large" patch is incoming. It is currently going through testing and certification at Sony before being released in the wild. It may have already been released, I haven't checked yet.

Anyway, hopefully this will "improve" things somewhat. I haven't played BFC3 for about 3 weeks as I have been on business traveling. I will try it and see if I get the same issues as you. Up until I left in my business trips I had no issues at all... everything has worked as expected.

I am using Asia servers. From what the BFC3 team have stated periodically since the Beta and release of the game, the back-end server systems and code have been iteratively improved and stabilised, therefore I find it odd that your character appears on screen without the gun model. It is very strange indeed considering DiCE have repeatedly said they have been improving and debugging the back end constantly...

Anyway, we wait and see what improvements are had when the new patch is released...

figures.
the only thing that needs fixing, is the one thing that does not get fixed!
thats what ill never understand about DICE.
i mean there whole life they have been making multiplayer only games, so you would think they would have the best net code by now.
right?
wrong!
BF3 online lags so badly i feel like im playing crysis on a P4!
funny how the alpha ran smooth as silk, but the beta and now final game is nothing but a nightmare!
as i said months ago, how can a alpha run smoother then a beta, then final release!?

I thought the lag issue had been fixed. I haven't had this issue, nor the disappearing gun model issue...

Let's see if improvements are made after the patch is released...

nope, tried to get into a match last night and both caspian border and opp metro were lagging like a pig!
even the co-op is really bad, i was playing a bit instead of MP last night because it was so laggy.
the 2nd last co-op mission, i could see my team mate scattering around the map it was so laggy!

i dont know why they have to nerf the weapons they are find the way they are if they have to do any thing is make some of the weapon stronger eg the mp7 i wish the power of that weapon was a little stronger and as far as the other weapons go so far so good for me bf3 is such a great game it takes my breath away every time oh and the voip of course needs a serious patch

and you there was a very limited amount of people in the alpha build. Not millions of people on at the same time. Maybe thats why there was no lag. Really... I've only experienced lag a very select few times before it was patched the first time. Been running great ever since. Once again though poeple always find something to complain about.
