Skyrim Patch Out In Europe, Seems To Fix PS3 Problems
Okay, it seems the patch PlayStation 3 gamers need is just around the corner.
The US has yet to see it but according to Eurogamer, the much-needed update is available now in some parts of Europe. The 92MB patch brings the game to version 2.01 and apparently fixes some of the severe issues reported by frustrated players.
Bethesda PR boss Pete Hines said the patch will improve performance for "long-term play on PS3." As some of you already know, if the save file gets too large (usually between 6 and 10MB), the game starts to suffer from serious lag and texture problems and eventually becomes a gigantic annoyance. Early feedback for the new patch seems positive, though, so here's hoping the update arrives in North America ASAP.
By the way, if you're wondering, these issues can affect the Xbox 360 version if the game was installed to the hard drive. But that's optional; it isn't optional with the PS3 version, so players have no choice but to deal with the ongoing problems.

My main gripe with Bethesda is that they refused to send out the PS3 version for review which implies they had something to hide. Also, this kind of bug or whatever you want to call it should have been detected before the game even shipped.
I will never trust a PS3 review based off of a 360 disc again. In hindsight the fact that 360 version was sent to a PS site should have raised more of a red flag. It would be nice to think both versions of the game are the same but that's just not how it always works out for us PS3 owners. We aren't talking about some hasty last minute port either. Skyrim was a high profile release that was shipped with a pretty nasty longplay bug in the PS3 version, Another thing, I feel sorry for the small portion of PS3 users that are not connected to the internet that are unable to download any patches. They are entitled to a working game as well.
Anyways I just hope the DLC will be in working order becuase to this very day parts of Fallout 3's DLC is just atrocious in the PS3 version. Never was fixed, either. I love Bethasda's games but their game testing and coding abilities for the PS3 are a concern.

I'm playing my first one, as matter of fact: Fallout 3: GOTY on pc only for 19.99. I'm enjoying the game at 60fps, and full detail, with no game freezes, and no bugs so far. And aside from the nose-picking side missions, I'm enjoying it very much

I didn't think the patch would come this soon, oh well on my part though. Hope the ps3 users of this game get a perminate fix, by reading some of the above comments, it seems the problem still persists

Bethesda's comment for everyone to calm down while they worked on a patch, now seems like they were being a smart ass.
If Bethesda doesn't give me a real fix, then I don't want it. I want the option to turn down the patch and that's highly unlikely. How they handle this will be the measuring stick for any future purchases for me.

i just hope the patch doesn't make skyrim worst cause it took 3 patches just to get nv right even though the game still runs bad.

Anyways, it's certainly not something anyone should pass up on the game for. Bethesda makes great games, I just think they have a problem with quality assurance. I'll admit that. But I've loved every one of their games and they have provided me with more playing time than any other games have. That's a plus in my book.
They do however need to resolve this, it's obviously an issue with the amount of complaints there are out there. If they don't, that would be more frustrating to see happen then them shipping it like this.

However, I can't really say the same for MW3. The engine's the same, the animations are the same, the guns, equipment, perks... All the same. It's like a bad re-run that everyone continues to participate in just for its value in easy entertainment and gaming mixed with social interactivity flawlessly. I also believe that the sheep you're referring to are not followers of the Elder Scrolls, but rather the Call of Duty franchise. Do you know how many people I've come across that buy those devils every single year "just because my friends are getting it"? Working at GameStop at the midnight release of MW3, I heard enough of those opinions to fill a very large room. Yeah, talk about sheep.
What I'm basically trying to point out here, is that Skyrim is a once-in-a-while masterpiece that breaks away from mainstream online interactions, and focuses on more what an RPG is about, and goes back to those isolationist days of gaming. In retrospect, I'm glad I'm spending these past 60 hours on a game with such adversity, rather than an old, dying dog that knows the same tricks, never any new.

(Too much pressure on the disc putting it back, put a thick but small crack into the disc rendering it useless then many days of boredom. But now I have it back and having a blast! Also can't wait to get Skyrim for christmas, gosh i feel like a broken record saying that all the time about Skyrim.. haha)

Yeah I would have thought the "reel em in" comment at he bottom made it pretty obvious I was just stirring the pot for a laugh and wasn't serious. I guess humour doesn't cross the 49th parallel very well
