VGAs Will Reveal A PS3 Exclusive "You Won't Believe"

Okay, you've piqued our interest, Keighley.

The Spike TV Video Game Awards kick off in less than two weeks; tune in on December 10 at 8 p.m. EST to catch all the glitz and glamor of the industry. It isn't exactly the Oscars, the Emmys, or the Grammys, but it will be someday!

At any rate, you've got a new reason to watch: according to Geoff Keighley's Twitter page, a secret PlayStation 3 exclusive will be unveiled, and it isn't something you're expecting. Or so he says:

"@Xer0Signal Yep PS3 exclusive you won't believe."

The hot rumor now involves that Super Smash Bros.-like brawler featuring all the recognizable Sony mascots, an idea that David Jaffe seems to love. Other than that, who knows? I want to see whatever Quantic Dream's new project is, but there are also more obvious possibilities, like God of War IV or...er...well, we know about the others!

It's not Twisted Metal or The Last Guardian, right? What else might there be? Don't say Metal Gear Solid 5...

I hope it's not that Super Smash Brothers type brawler people were talking about becuase we already know about that kind of.

It won't be MGS5 since it looks like that series went multiplat plus they will want to focus on RIsing. The Last Guardian has already been announced and is stuck in development hell along with FFvs13.

Wasn't it rumored Guerilla Games was working on a new IP? That could be interesting since they are masters at coding for the PS3.

I hope it's something else but I bet it's the Smash Bros thing. If there's anything we can be certain of it's that the people who get up on that stage don't have the slightest idea what has already hit the internet or what people want or what we will or will not "believe".

A Brawler with a Sony roster seems odd to me. I have a hard time imagining all the characters in one setting. It works with Nintendo characters because they all have a similar feel. Seeing Drake and Ratchet in the same game just seems weird.

My problem is we have no real female heroes for gender balance. Nariko would be cool but she's a bit of a sore spot since the potential franchise was abandoned. Chloe and Elena? Okay, but they are supporting characters and not particularly bad-ass in any way. All the Sony exclusives with babes went multiplat. Who wants a sausage-fest?

Quite frankly, I never really "got" the Smash Bros. craze in the first place. "Who would win in a fight between Link and Mario!"? Who cares? Do I really need to play Kratos fighting Sev? Seems like a waste of development resources to me.

ok, i know this will be VERY unlikely.... but, what have they been telling the ff fan base thats wants true to home remakes?

that they would take too long

if they want the remake to be true to home, it makes sense for it to be exclusive right? cause then they could focus one just the one console to make the game as good as it needs to be. and we as fans would not believe the announcement right?

The mistake you make is one I used to make too, taking them at their word. To us "you won't believe it" means it's going to be so unexpected and appreciated that we will just refuse to believe it. To them "You won't believe it" is probably meant in the colloquial sense of "It will get your attention"

I agree with you both World and Gods, but just to build some dream scenario here:

Maybe, just maybe this is a project that were not ready to be revealed at E3 (for legal or other reasons), and now they don't want to risk leakage until the next E3 so they spill the beans right now instead, to make blast out of it right before the xmas seasons?

I mean... It's at least imaginable?

A new Onimusha game would be rad. It is a brilliant series & a new game for it seems long overdue.

You've played Onimusha from Warlords to Samurai Destiny to Demon Siege & as far as i am concerned they're the only ones you need to play to experience the story of Samonosuke & Nobunaga. Onimusha Dawn of Dreams was a separate story & was frankly, kinda shite as an Onimusha game imo. You've played the main ones & i don't think you're missing much by not playing Dawn of Dreams. Having said that however, you may want to track it down just so you're not missing out on any Onimusha's.

What I would love to see is a true western style RPG with amazing, deep stories that makes the BioWare games seem like a Transformers movie, crafting that requires a dedicated Wiki just for the receipts and an engineer to understand the mechanics, exclusive to the ps3 with the production values and polish of the current exclusives flagships.
Something that would make *me* go, "oh shiiiit, exclusives ROCK!".

THAT's what I would love to see. :)

id love to think its something from QD, or 8 days, or the getaway 3, or a new medievil game, or a new J&D, or GOW4, or GGs new IP, but i doubt its any of those.
50 bucks says its title fight, and then a thousand baby pandas will cry.

The whole list of former 360 exclusives games are coming over to the Ps3. Gears of War 4 (with a blu-ray collection of 1-3), the next Forza game with support of the GT5 crew, the next Alan Wake, Crackdown 3, and a few former 360 exclusives kid games. Leaving the xbox with only Halo & kinect shovelware. :P lol.

I might have to tune in and watch i can't wait to see what it is.

Good to see another Broken Sword fan around, i thought they became extinct.

+1 on Broken Sword 3, that for me was the ultimate point n' clicker. Although i think there has been more than 3 Broken Swords; We've had what, The Smoking Mirror, Shadows of The Templars, The Sleeping Dragon & an exclusive George Stobbart adventure on the PC.

Yeah, i played all bar the PC exclusive. I just figured since Sleeping Dragon didn't have "3" in the title, i'd call it that.
I'd like it to go back to it's 2D roots but drastically updated.

DiscWorld was my other fave point and click.

Yeah, a Mistwalker RPG would be up there with a Level 5 one for me. I know i mentioned a Level 5 game and yet we already have one coming with Ni No Kuni which couldn't look better, but i just want more!

I dont have any ideas of what it could be BUT I do have the feeling that Ben and Arnold might know what it is...Ben has been hinting at a game that they know about but they're not able to talk about for some time just like Twisted Metal... but thats just my thoughts! :)

A new Twisted Metal game was one of the worst kept secrets out there. Saw that coming from miles away since somebody slipped up and open their mouths. No, it was not Ben. If I remember correctly it was somebody from Jaffee's own team that blew the lid off that before E3 forcing Jafee to deny the reports. I don't think many believed his denials. The cat was already out of the bag on that one.

Excelsior, we didn't know about Twisted Metal because of rumors. We knew about it because Jaffe flat-out told us.

And we're the only ones who ACTUALLY knew, whether you think everyone already "knew" or not.

As for the mystery game at the VGAs, no, we don't know what it is.

I remember reading how after Twisted Metal was announced David Jaffee gave ya'll a pretty good interview because ya'll keep your lips sealed on the subject.

My guess is jak 4

Last year I guess sony's december release would be sly4 because of the collection but it turned out to be uncharted 3

I think that the game in question is actually one that we been reading a lot of rumors about recently...

RESIDENT EVIL 6

There was some talk about Capcom showing the game at last years VGA's. And they were held back from showing it at this years TGS.

A return of the Resident Evil franchise to a Playstation machine (as an exclusive game) might be the reboot the series needed.

i'm sorry since when did mgs go multiplat? Did mgs4 come out for xbox? or was it the hd collection that came out for xbox? Last time i checked with the exception of mgs:Rising... What metal gear was multiplat? Maybe i'm missing something.

Spike VGA's are kind of weak, but they've been getting better every year. Really, it's usually the nominations that usually seem rigged but last years were pretty close to what i thought they would or should've been. Plus they seem to be coming out with more game announcements every year. I'm all for new game announcements. LOL

here's my wish for it....

I'd love to hear someone had the balls to step up and take over the "6 days in Fallujah" story.
And that since it's secretly been in production for a while now, that it will release by mid-2012.

I'd also like to see all of the Okami games packaged together, upgraded in HD on 1 Bluray. Disc
