New DMC Gameplay Footage: Dante Is Still Dante
When the first images of the Devil May Cry reboot hit the 'Net, hardcore fans were a little miffed. Just a tad.
But over time, we've come to accept that initial screenshots of the heroin-addict Dante weren't indicative of his look throughout the game, and above all else, gameplay quality is essential.
Ninja Theory is a talented developer and they've cut their teeth on similar action quests before. Some will say Heavenly Sword and Enslaved: Odyssey to the West didn't offer the combat depth of any past DMC entry (and they'd be right), but check out this new gameplay trailer. You can't say you're not at least a little impressed... Or if not impressed, hopeful...?
Having played and completed every entry (except DMC2), I'd have to say this looks a lot like the combat I remember. There are obviously new moves and weapons, and the Scorpion-esque "come over here!" element might be overused (remember Nero's arm in DMC4?), but this is definitely DMC in my eyes. What say you?

I played Bayonetta recently after a long hiatus from that game and was overwhelmed by how beautiful the graphics/scenery are and how fluid the combat is. Just amazing. Considering that's pretty much a Devil May Cry title, I would say Ninja Theory just can't compete (they're lucky Platinum Games didn't announce a sequel for a 2012 release).
I'm still interested but just not hyped. I'll grab it someday when the price drops to 20 dollars or so.

What does that have to do with anything? Neither Capcom nor Ninja Theory has given an official release date for it yet so far everyone is just ASSUMING it comes out sometime late 2012 but it hasn't been made official

Also this game uses the Unreal engine. Unreal and the PS3 go together like oil and water unless a developer is extremely adept.

Also I miss Dantes cocky attitude but maybe he will develop that throughout the game?

Here's hoping that one day the old Dante comes back though.

However, I will gladly take back what I said, just because it seems that they are doing something right :)
Dante sounds like "Dante" again, and doesn't look like he belongs in a nut house....
That said, I' still weary about the combat...it seems like whoever is playing is pulling off crazy combos with ease, which is NOT what I imagine a DMC game to be. The gameplay was ALWAYS the best part.....
Anyway, I've said enough. I'll just sit and wait patiently until a release date is announced. I suppose I'm just happy that DMC is back on my radar again :)

An no person can truly say DMC2 was bad, because I have been top to bottom in that game and though it lacks the polish of what we have nowadays and the first, it has a great deal of elements that make it fun...
In anycase, I sit back and continue to smile at the progress towards this new entry, but I think I'll try to get the HDC to tide me off till the new entry surfaces.
