Heavy Rain Stats: 3 Million Played It, 3% Platinumed It

We say it's one of the most accomplished, memorable, progressive games in history.

And if you're interested in how others fared when playing this branching, decision-driven adventure, check out some accumulated stats over at IGN.

Heavy Rain won the site's Game of the Year in 2010 (it was the GotY co-winner with Gran Turismo 5 here at PSXE), and the numbers somehow make me want to play the game again...and I've finished it four times already. Perhaps most important is the fact that 3 million people have played the game, which is fantastic. Other interesting stats include: 1/3 of players kept all the characters alive, while only 3% earned the Platinum Trophy, and 4% saw all the endings. How many are there again? 22? Nuts.

All we want to know now is what Quantic Dream is working on. Their next project might be just as progressive and innovative, and we can't wait to see it. Just make it for this generation, please; don't wanna wait for the PS4. That's just too far off.

thats sad only 90,000 people. sure it takes a couple of playthroughs, but it takes about a week or so casual playing to platnium

I finished it once and then moved on. It was a great game, but not one I can play over and over again.

Excellent sales, I was surprised that only 65% saved Shaun. How sad for them. I got a fantastic ending the first time around with everyone alive and some great choices (And, somehow a perfect driving record trophy in that intense scene). My second time I wanted to change just a couple things and I was surprised at how much that altered my ending.

It's funny how you're just compelled to make the decisions you really want to make. I like, can't let my characters die, it isn't in me.

Really? And what makes you think our circumstances are the same, that I have the resources to get what I want, when I want it? Instead of looking at the world saying it should be as you expect, expect it to look as it already does. I didn't have the money then, and I don't have the money now... if I'm expected to have a copy of HR by now then please get me a copy to shut me up.

I've seen people who don't even know about Bioshock which has been out much longer. The point is, be considerate, and don't expect everybody to have experienced the same things as you, even if you feel they should have already. They don't always have the means to do so, so don't expect them to. The PS3 has been out for so long and I bet you there are still people dying to get there hands on it. Also Sony has been marketing in such a way to cater and attract additional audiences (after all, the commercials for the PS3 console aren't meant primarily for those who already have a PS3...). There is always untapped audience, so yeah... be considerate.

Heavy Rain was my first platinum too. I have five now, but there's someone on my friend's list with fifty. When I saw them I was highly unimpressed with my five.

Dang... I guess I'm a proud part of that :D
The moment I got that Platinum was an amazing little footnote in my years of gaming. Definitely hours well spent. Except for the endings that made me want to go punch an orphan out of frustration, the game was simply amazing. I've adored Quantic Dream's games ever since I first played Indigo Prophecy. Loved that game...

In my defence, I think Heavy Rain is one of those games that should only be experience once. That's how the story ended for me and I don't wish to experience again.

A lot of Heavy Rain news/editorials lately, I've noticed. Coincidence that I finally picked it up about two weeks ago? I've only played through it once so far, but as soon as the semester ends, I plan on playing it some more. Happy to say I kept all 4 characters alive my first play through. I hope to platinum it someday, but considering my free time, and the sheer amount of games I want to play, that might take a while.

well, allot easier then almost every other game which requires you to since 6 months into the MP.......

I've heard that Rouge warrior has the dubious title(among other dubious titles it also owns) of being the #1 easiest game of any, to get a plat.
hell, I was only one 1-hidden item away from a plat myself(at the very beginning of the game).

But I'm kind of glad I didn't get it because I don't want my 1st plat to be known as a "cheapened" one(that is, if I ever do finally get a plat, LOL

And since my RW save file was in the now-broken HD of my US post office murdered phat princess, I surly can't be bothered to re-play that awful tripe of a game again either.

nah, terminator salvation was easier.
took me 6 hours to plat if i remember right.
even the trophy for finishing the game on the highest difficulty setting was a walk in the park.

3 million? Yowser! That's definitely impressive. I can't say I was one to platinum it though. And how in the hell do you keep that guy alive? He keeps falling off the conveyor, even though I tried three times. Mebbe I'm just doing it wrong. Would love to go back to HR, but alas, other games beckon to be played.

I think I'm lost, you fight the OK in the conveyor, right after Ethan tries to save Shaun, here you just need to complete the buttons sequence and to save Ethan you need to complete the Madison sequence.

By the way, the OK must die to get this finale

Heavy Rain is the only game I've platinumed. Am gonna try and work thru the Uncharted trilogy soon. Finished them all, but still would love to platinum them all.

Likewise, I did not find it difficult to platinum HR, though I got it gradually, As I think aiming for a trophy runthrough on a game like this would just spoil it. Its what my firends doing at the moment the ammount of times I have seen each each of the game this month is becoming tiresome lol

One of my greatest ever gaming experiences, the whole thing was wonderful, breathtaking, exciting, as a whole amazing. No movie has ever moved me as much as Heavy Rain or any game has either.

Ethane was the girl-iest character in the game(Reaction after finding out Madison's identity comes to mind). Part of the 3%. 25Hrs to plat even; Play your first playthrough enjoying the game & seeing how things turn out(brilliant, I was mad shocked when I found out who the OK was), then use a guide for the other endings.

Most importantly for me is, I want to play every game that I'm interested in then taking the time to platinum a certain game.

I should have had a plat, but the first 'mission' never gave e a trophy and i never got the trophy for seeing all of the endings even though i totally did see them all.

The game had some trophy bugs early on.

No bugs really, trophies in this game are tricky, but not glitched.

For the trophy on the first mission u need to
- Take a bath
- Get dressed
- Go to your office and draw, keep drawing till the planes are finished then stand up and watch the drawing.
- Help your wife with the bags
- Put the plates in the table (Without braking any one of course)
- Play with the kids, when one of them is in your shoulders dont put it down till the game does that automatically and win the swords fight

Trophy should pop up after the level where you take care of shaun.
