PlayStation Plus Delivered Big Savings Throughout 2011
If you weren't a PlayStation Plus member in 2011, you definitely missed out.
Today, Sony Computer Entertainment America LLC (SCEA) revealed that the subscription service delivered over $1,200 in total savings during the year.
The service also offered more than 17 free free games for the PlayStation 3, 132 PS3 game discounts, 43 full game trials, 6 early access demos, and access to 4 beta tests. Throughout 2011, members benefited from discounts of up to 80% on everything from exclusive game content to promotional programs (PSN PLAY, PSN Gamers' Choice Awards, Only On PSN, Summer Sale, Fall Sale, and Holiday Collection). Said Brandon Stander, SCEA Director of PlayStation Network Marketing:
"It's been exciting to see such positive feedback from the PlayStation Community as we've offered free games such as Plants vs. Zombies, full-game trials like Red Dead Redemption and early access to the highly anticipated UNCHARTED 3: Drake's Deception Multiplayer Beta -- all for just over $4 a month. At the end of the year the total value in free games and discounts offered to PlayStation Plus subscribers will be more than $1,200, and that doesn't include the convenience and access to features such as automatic updates and online game saves. Now, as we head into 2012, we're looking to expand and evolve PlayStation Plus to give subscribers even more savings and exclusive deals."
PS3 game discounts included Resident Evil: Code Veronica X HD and Limbo, Plus gave you early access to the Killzone 3 single-player demo, and let's not forget about the Uncharted 3: Drake's Deception beta.
So, are you a member yet?

Then the new features for Plus like Cloud Storage and Automatic Updates just make it that much better. If you spend a lot of time on your PS3 and don't have Plus you are truly missing out..

Plus the cheap DLC and the automatic save/update feature is great. I love booting up my PS3 and seeing all my recent save files have been uploaded to the Cloud service and any game updates have already been downloaded.

But since then, I've re-upped once again, but this time I got the 12 month plan.
Gotta say, I've been loving all the free games I've gotten, Crash, Spyro, Tomb Raider, Hydrophobia 2, even a few of those mini's etc.
And with all those other special deals, special deals & percentage-off deals(and as much as I hate digital D/L's), I still picked up another bunch of gaming steals that I probably would've never tried otherwise.
Plus another added bonus beside the Cloud service, for me is that I also get Qore included for free too, and that also usually has some kind of PSN store freebie every month for me.

its not worth it at all, all they give you is discounts on games and the rare "early" beta access.
what if you dont buy PSN games?
and not really "early" access when its only by a week, i mean really, your going to pay 100 bucks just to get a extra week in a beta?
eh, would not surprise me to be honest, ive always said people have more money then brains!
like this guy my nan lives next door to he bought a ferrari 458 a few weeks ago
and his house is a sh*t hole!
why the ^%$# would you go spend hundreds of thousands of dollars on a ferrari when you could use that money to do your house up?
the guy does not even have air con!
aaaaaaaaaaaaanyway only thing i would use out of + is early beta access, but its not really worth it, most of them are only a week before the public gets it.
yea 100 bucks for 1 week so worth it!
if they had private betas where you had to be a + member once every few months or something then ok id be worth it, but they rarely open it up to plus, and when they do its only shortly before everyone else.
i dont use the discounts either because i rarely buy PSN games simply because i dont have time to play all my retail games, let alone digital ones!
and i cant afford to waste 4+GBs of my download usage on a game i have no idea ill even like.
hell, i bought joe danger on release and ive played about 20 minutes of it!
what a waste!
they need to change the subscription, or at least make 2 sepperate offers.
most people wont use all the discounts because 99% of the games discounted will either be games there not interested in, or like me just dont buy PSN games.
so your paying for something your not going to use.
they should do a rewards program, or something where instead of just getting discounts you get things you would not get otherwise.
and not once every 6 months like the betas have been!
id be cool if they did a rewards program like EB has now.
at EB every game you buy you get 1 point per dollar spent, build up enough points and you get rewards, like vouchers, birthday offers, access to exclusive events, early access into sales.
id be cool if they did the same thing, every game you buy on ps3 you get x PSN points, and every game you plat you get x PSN points, and every game you buy on vita you get x PSN points.
build them up and you get exclusive offers.
something worthwhile people paying for, not just paying for discounts.
not worth me paying you 100 dollars, then you giving me coupons to the value of 500 dollars on things im not going to purchase in the first place.
yea its 5 times what i paid, but whats the point if im not going to use them?
you would not give a guy a coupon for free manicure and pedicure for a year now would you?

Oddly enough, when it first launched all I could think was "That sounds stupid, why would I want to pay for PSN when it's free."
All the discounts and free games have definately made it worth it.
