PixelJunk Shooter 2, Limbo Top PSN Sales Charts In 2011
It has been another great year on the PlayStation Network, and Sony has revealed the biggest and most popular downloadable titles of 2011.
The top-selling PSN game of the year was PixelJunk Shooter 2, and Fat Princess, Flower, Aquatopia, and Hustle Kings rounded out the top five. In a nod to independent developers, they also gave us a list of the top 10 most popular indie PSN games. The critically acclaimed Limbo topped that list, and Castle Crashers, Test Yourself Psychology, Marvel Pinball, and Worms 2: Armageddon followed (in that order). Also, Sucker Punch's inFamous: Festival of Blood was one of the best-selling games on the PSN in 2011, and it currently holds the record for fastest-selling digital PS3 game. ...well, of course. It's inFamous.
Smaller designers have often benefited from Sony's support of talented industry professionals. You'll find quite a few testimonials out there, and if you're not one of the big boys and you've got a great product, you just might find a welcoming home at Sony. At PSXE, we've often said that if you want to find innovation, creativity and unbridled imagination, you've got to see what's available on the PlayStation Network.
