Ninja Gaiden III Launch Date, Pre-Order Bonus Revealed
We knew it'd be March, but now the master ninja's latest adventure has an exact date.
Today, Tecmo Koei America has revealed that Ninja Gaiden III will hit North America on March 20 for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. Fans will also have the option of a fantastic Collector's Edition.
Ryu Hayabusa returns in a new story by famed writer Masato Kato, which should add artistic depth to the well-known hack 'n slash format. Team Ninja has worked to create a game that will "immerse players in a new experience as the man, the human being, behind the ultimate ninja's mask." For the first time ever, the franchise will include co-op online multiplayer, which will let apprentices hone their skills even further.
If you pre-order the game at GameStop or Amazon, you'll get a special downloadable two-character stage from the developer's upcoming fighting title, Dead or Alive 5. As for the Collector's Edition, the deluxe package offers players a chance to play all four characters in the DoA5 demo, an exclusive Ninja Gaiden III "Unmask" art book, official soundtrack, and a unique "Duel of the Masked" figure that can't be bought anywhere. The Collector's Edition will be exclusive to GameStop and EB Games and hold a $99.99 price tag.
Said Amos Ip, senior vice president and general manager of Tecmo Koei America:
"With NINJA GAIDEN 3, Team NINJA has created a fresh new way to take players behind the mask of the world's greatest ninja, Ryu Hayabusa, where they must choose when to give mercy or wreak vengeance to learn what it means to be a dark hero. Our preorder packages at GameStop and Amazon and our massive Collector's Edition will give true fans their first chance to experience the unique fighting action of DEAD OR ALIVE 5 on day one when NINJA GAIDEN 3 ships."

Co-op was in Sigma 2. I believe it means "competitive online multiplayer", as that would be a first for the franchise. I saw some clips of it, too, with ninjas using cloaking abilities and other perk/bonuses.
