Gran Turismo 5: New DLC, Update 2.02 Lands This Week

Tuesday will be a big day for the hardcore racing fans.

As revealed at the PlayStation Blog, the second round of downloadable content and other new stuff will be available for Gran Turismo 5 this week.

The Car Pack 2 ($3.99) will get you the 2011 Mini Cooper S, 2010 Volkswagen Golf VI R, 2010 Volkswagen Scirocco R, and the "new and improved" 2012 Nissan GT-R Black edition R35.

Furthermore, if you purchased anything from the first batch of DLC, you'll unlock the Gran Turismo Kart 125 SP and five New Car Refresh cards for free. These cards will bring any car back to the "as good as new" status "while maintaining any modifications or paints jobs." But to grab 'em, you'll have to install the new update this week...which you're gonna do, anyway, right?

Update 2.02 features:

-- Users can now change wheels on Standard cars

-- The settings sheets will include a new ‘copy’ feature

-- In GT Auto, players will be able to see how the oil changes, aerodynamic parts, engine overhauls, and racing modifications will affect performance points and engine power, before and after their application

-- Free coupons have been added that allow you to wash cars, change oil, overhaul your engine, or refresh the car body in GT Auto (10 coupons will be distributed for free to each of those who have downloaded the 2.02 update)

-- Pressing the Square button in the car coupon selection screen of the Car Delivery will now allow you to exchange all car coupons at once, rather than doing one at a time

-- In screens where the [Garage] and [Driver List] buttons are displayed in the A/B Spec events, Special Events, and Seasonal Events, pressing the Square button will now show the [Garage], and pressing the Triangle button will bring up the drivers list

-- In My Lounge, the room settings will feature a new ‘Max. number of participants’ setting

Lastly, there's one final gift for all those who download update 2.02: the Toyota FT-86 2012. Have fun!

Can't be sure about that. That 2.02 update info wasn't on the Euro PS Blog, but that may not mean anything.

Haven't played Gran Turismo 5 in about 6 months. Too busy with uni, then Gears of War 3, then Batman, then Battlefield 3, then Uncharted 3, now playing Zelda Skyward Sword.

Holy crap, I've got a massive update to download now!!

Brother, come do a track day with me. No racing, just you versus the track. I usually set one up that features Spa and the Ring.

Good times.

The option to change wheels on the Standard cars is huge to me. The DLC looks good as well, and my hat goes off to PDI for their continued support.

More updates eh?
Good to know.
Makes you wonder what GT5 would have been had Polyphony taken another 6-12 months working on it.

Kaz himself said he wanted another 2 years for GT5. I believe that through updates, we'll get to see GT5 where it was supposed to be.

Actually, max, I don't think we will. Perhaps in terms of bugs and other small issues. There was several features and content that were planned for GT5 and ended up being cut, which he says will be transitioning to GT6. There's not much left for GT5 to improve on now in terms of features.

I also think we probably would've had better events for A-Spec, and this is something we probably won't see improve till the next GT.

Although their DLC selection is questionable to many, they got my support. I'll be buying their DLC pack. Thank you PD for your hard work. It's been well over a year now, and many, many updates.
