DMC Gameplay: Dante's Mid-Air Agility And Some Juggling
If you're looking for some hectic fast-paced action in 2012, you should probably put DMC at or near the top of your list.
Ninja Theory is still working on this highly anticipated reboot, and they continue to provide gamers (some of whom remain skeptical) with plenty of gameplay footage.
Here's the latest from Capcom Unity Videos; it shows Dante ripping into a few baddies with plenty of deadly style. It's the style we recognize from the vaunted Devil May Cry franchise, even if Dante lacks the silver hair. Juggling an enemy with a combination of a sword swipe and twin pistols has returned, and you can obviously stay in the air for a while.
Nothin' wrong with that. One last thing to consider: the DMC games were quite challenging (with the exception of the often ignored DMC2). But Ninja Theory doesn't have a history of making hand-cramping action games; don't confuse them with Team Ninja (Ninja Gaiden). Ninja Theory produced Heavenly Sword and Enslaved: Odyssey to the West; both games had challenging parts, but neither was particularly tough.
Well, the final boss fight in Heavenly Sword was hard...

I dare say this might be Ninja Theory's last chance. Another flop from then and I doubt there will be many publisher's knocking on their doors in the future. Even the desperate Japanese publisher's will walk away.

"On the performance side of things the analysis we did suggested that in detail-heavy interior scences, the Xbox 360 version commanded a noticable frame-rate advantage with significantly lower levels of screen-tears. The obvious conclussion is that heavy scenes in the Unreal 3 Engine tend to favour the the 360. This is something that has been the case with the engine for quite some time now. We have seen a similar state of affairs with the engine in many other games."
Again, not a big fan of the Unreal engine since it does in fact favor the 360. What's a little sad about the PS3 version losing that face off is that Ninja Theory had PS3 game development experience in the past. Hmph is all I can say to that, Not fine in my book.

The AI in this looks extremely dumb. I'm going to give them the benefit of the doubt and assume that this was done intentionally to show of the combat. IMO that was a bad idea because then you get fan reaction like this.
I just pray it does well. These titles were some of my favorites back on the PS2. I've yet to see wonders done with any Ca$hcom game that has gone multiplat..cough cough...Resident Evil (and now DMC). And yes I know It's Ninja Theory developing the game this time.
Last thing, I'm honestly not trolling. These are just the concerns of a genuine fan. The game DOES look good, just the combat is a tad bit iffy for me. They should have gave this game to Team Ninja. The combat at the end of the day is what really matters and again, it's just not doing it for me. We'll see I guess.

I'm going to have to agree with snake on this one. No matter what your tried to do, Dante's mechanics were much more open ended and dynamic. Nero felt extremely noob friendly. I always said it was Capcom's way of capturing the casual market.
He WAS very repetitive. The only way to actually get near an enemy to keep up with your stylish points was to utilize the devil bringer. Dante had trickster which was much more better in maneuvering and obviously less repetitive. He also had the ability to switch between 5 styles AT WILL.
Also Dante even had different swords that changed his style completely. Nero only had his red queen and the bare bone exceed ability. The double barrel gun was just a way to make him fit the "Dante mold."
Again I just pray that there's more to this new DMC than meets the eyes. I can't bare waiting another 5 years just to get a DMC that's actually fun and pushes the franchise to new heights. Oh how I miss DMC3.

Dante felt like he was added to appease those who were pissed he wasnt in the game as a usable character. Which is why he tends to have most of the same weapons. He's strong as heck if you're using his gauntlet weapon while switching rapidly between normal and devil mode. But really, not a lot was added to him where i could say Dante deserved to be the only character on the game.
Nero got pegged as noob friendly unfairly, but i bet the same who claim he's noob friendly never did master his insta revs thru out a full combo.
On topic, i wish the game play was faster, and i hope the ai isnt as dumb in the video on the final product

However, I have to say that it looks to be shaping up quite well. The level-design looks awesome and the combat looks as fun as it always was...
My only gripe would be that it looks to be a bit on the easy side????
Hopefully, DMC hasn't descended to a mere button-masher, but I'm going to assume that the enemies were a bit on the easy side to showcase the combat system.
Probably won't be a day-1 purchase, but I'm sure I'll pick it up eventually :)
