Rumor: Square Enix To Reveal Final Fantasy XV At E3 2012

Yeah, that'd be pretty freakin' huge, wouldn't you agree?

According to one source citing publication GamesMaster UK, Square Enix has a big surprise planned for the 25th anniversary of Final Fantasy.

And that surprise will supposedly be an unveiling of Final Fantasy XV at E3 next year. The game will be announced "during a special Square Enix E3 2012 press conference," and the new installment will come to both the Wii U and PC as well as the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. In the past, FFXIII producer Yoshinori Kitase did say he'd like to bring the revered franchise to the Wii U at some point; Nintendo hasn't seen the series in quite some time. And I think the last PC release was FFVIII.

With Final Fantasy XIV being a MMORPG and Final Fantasy XIII-2 essentially in the books (it's out in Japan), it'll be interesting to see what Square Enix does for the next true-blue entry. Some are holding their breath, others...well, aren't holding their breath.

Hmmm I really dont know about putting it on PC, sure FF7 & 8 were on there, but FF is a console game end of.

I hope it is announced though, I have said I wanted to see Final Fantasy XV by the end of the PS3's lifetime so I guess we'll have to wait and see, for now I can at least focus on prepping for XIII-2.

Screw Final Fantasy XV!! What I want to hear about is Final Fantasy XVI!! Now THAT'S going to be an interesting announcement whenever that may be (5 minutes after they announce Final Fantasy XV of course).

Oh, hey, Square, whatever happened to Final Fantasy Versu... ya know what, doesn't matter. It's not like we'll hear anything anytime soon. *sigh*

Ya, I feel another DNF coming on.

FFXV being across all 4 platform reeks of a dodgy finished product, and a massive reduction in quality.

They could barely pump out a decent game on the 2 consoles, now they are doubling it.

Could they please for the love of God release the almost now mythical FFvs13 first? Remember that game? Oh well, it's always possible they will have 2 teams.

I'm a huge Final Fantasy fan so far be it from me to not welcome a new FF game. I have bought every main FF game that has been available for the Sony consoles day1 or as close to day1 as possible all the way back to FF7. Some I have enjoyed way more than others but I always look forward to Square's top notch production values when it comes to their FF games. They just can't be beat in my book and I have yet to see another company even come close to Square in that department. Any FF announcement outside of their MMO games is still a big deal for me.

I don't think they will have 2 teams.

They didn't even have two teams during XIII. After XIII finished they apparently merged the team with the vsXIII team, but then XIII-2 came around, and now XV.

It is ridiculous! vsXIII is the one people care about, the one that will make money!

I'd rather have them...say something about FF Versus XIII...I mean the last E3 where they mentioned anything about it was...oh yea 2006. Huh...that also happens to be the time they announced it to the world.

...you see something wrong? They talked about FFXIII-2, FFXIV, and now...possibly FFXV...without even talking about ONE OF THEIR WORKING PROJECTS for all this time.

For god's sake, get it done with. Given the current rate they're working...FFXV will come out at the time the next generation of consoles have begun.

uh oh, PC? When PC is listed with Final Fantasy it's not usually a good thing. Hopefully it's not another MMO style game.

THat included FFVII, too. I was fool enough to play that eons ago and like a crappy port it became buggy and unplayable.

Please don't jinx it by mentioning MMO. Playing FF7 on a PC eons ago...BLASHEMY!! The PS1 version was the definitive version plus playing it on your PS1 was how it was meant to be played. PS1 was an epic system for JRPG lovers.

That made me laugh since I have been harping on Japanese game production lately. These guys work slow for the most part *cough* FFvs13 *cough* The Last Guardian *COUGH* 5 yrs and we still know nothing about these games. C'mon guys. It's like they need a pep talk or production guru/master to visit. OR maybe they just need a big hug because they have lost so much confidence this gen. What was the name of the former head of Capcom? Infanue or something like that. Upon visiting E3 he proclaimed the Japanese gaming industry is dead. With leadership like that it's no wonder Japan has had issues this gen. Can you imagine what a statement like that did to employee morale?

It's just a custom bow for Serah. One that MS and Square collaborated on. I do admit it is annoying to see MS get exclusive and early DLC but that is the way things have been this gen.

Let MS have their stupid DLC bow. We will get the best version of FF13-2 with apparently sharper graphics and a noticable framerate advantage. A superior PS3 multiplat is a rare thing so I will cherish it. Good job Square.

an exclusive item no matter how small is till exclusive. it could be a start of something like square completely taking steps away from the actual franchise fans.

I am hoping for FFXV to be honest. FFXIII has been a real surprise for me at least. Glad to see it appear on the PS3. Hopefully this is a sign the X720 won't be out for another 2 years which means we have our PS3 for another 2 years. Big fan so I am sure I will pleased with what ever they come out with. NO MMORPG!!!

Or dare I say FFVII remade from the ground up, not just an HD remake!

The PS4 will arrive at the same time as Microsoft's next system. No way Sony will let MS go unchallenged in NA. The last time I checked(NOV 2011) the PS3 was getting outsold here almost 2:1 by the 360. 1.7 million 360's sold in NOV vs 901,000 PS3's. Source Eurogamer. I double checked the numbers and Games Radar had the same sales figures. Letting MS launch ahead of the PS4 would be suicide in my humble opinion. I agree with Ultima's estimated time frame for MS's next system and strongly suspect Sony will meet them head on next gen. So buckle up my fellow Sony fans. The PS4 is right around the corner. I have already set aside around $300 for mine. I expect it will cost more than that but that's fine. I have my $300 buffer to protect me. I will just pay the remaining balance when it arrives.

I agree with both of you. It will be interesting to see if FFXV will be PS3 or PS4. If they are announcing it then it may be early in development and would then make sense to be a PS4 game. However even though PS4 is coming out it could still be a PS3 game too.

It doesn't make any business sense whatsoever to release the PS4 & Nextbox next year. As long as sales stay this high they won't. I don't expect to see new systems until 2013

YOu really, really need to stop posting remarks that are based solely on the NA market performance. The gaming business is global, and there is a very good chance that during this fiscal year the PS3 will overtake the 360 in terms of global lifetime sales.

Those NA are exactly why Sony won't let MS launch ahead so they are important. I know it might sting a little bit to read those numbers as a Sony fan but they DO matter and are important in the console war. Even if Sony does overtake the 360 this year they will atill have managed to loose about 45% of their market share this gen. That all can't be explained away by MS's 1 year head start. Franlkly, I don't think Sony will overtake the 360. MS still has a price cut in their back pocket, and the 360 has been outselling the the PS3 globally since around April of this year. At least that's what MS has claimed.

If there was some kind of worldwide mothly sales tracker I would be watching those numbers like a hawk and posting them as well. The NPD are important and easy to find.

Excelsior, Sony needs to release at the same time as the next XBOX, not only for the NA region, but to maintain relevance in other international markets. XBOX would have much less outside of NA that it already does had PS3 been released alongside it.

Even in that example, NA is still not the be-all-end-all. How unfortunate it would be for Sony to spend all its resources on NA in the same manner Microsoft does.

I gave up on Kingdom Hearts years ago, ever since they but titles on the DS which I havent played, I have lost track of the whole story now, so even if Kingdom Hearts III is eventually released It wont be appearing on my console.

Come to think it of it, theres no excuse to why there has not been a KH3 this gen, just shows how behind S-E have become...

Who cares about these sneek peaks, it's just let down after let down. I'm going to go back and play Crisis Core, FF7, watch Advent Children then force myself to finish Dirge of Cerberus. Maybe by then, not only will I fully be an encyclopedia of things related to FF7 but hopefully there would be more news on FFvs13. Peace

when it comes to final fantasy news, i would usually get really excited with any game labeled as final fantasy. however, 13 left such a bad taste that right now i cant even muster up even an ounce of anticipation. multiplatform final fantasy means a lower quality product to me, and quality was what final fantasy was about for me. and as an additional slap to the face for final fantasy fans, i'm hearing theres exclusive in game items for the 360 version of final fantasy 13-2..... ummm the fans you have, or have left are playstation fans.

so this might be the start of final fantasy annualization huh.

I'm optimistic as usual, but I really don't know what to expect at this point. I'm kind of skeptical of any RPG this gen. That's alright, though. I've got 5 older consoles with plenty of them.

Ugh, whenever I hear multi-platform, I know there's gonna be bigger compromises like taking down more CG cut scenes, content, or whatever it may be. Even the Wii U, still manages to only hold 25GB of data on their discs. If it's gonna be multiplatform, please at least keep in mind of maximizing the PS3's discs first. The others can have their multiple discs for all I care.

I still haven't played 13. I might when it drops to $10 but that year at e3 when they went multi-platform was such a huge slap in the face for me. The only reason I became a huge Sony supporter was because of FF. I know we still have the game and all but announcing it as an exclusive then doing a "360", I felt betrayed. I'm sure Square-enix is currently working on a 360 version of FFvs13. I'll let my money do the talking.
