Take The Omega Challenge In Final Fantasy XIII-2
Final Fantasy XIII-2 just launched in the Land of the Rising Sun on December 15, but there is already some nifty downloadable content available.
It's the Omega DLC pack, and it's out for both the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 versions of the game. As the name implies, the pack gives you the Omega monster; if you can take it down, you can summon it into combat whenever you like.
If you're in North America and you want a shot at Omega, the best way to do it is to pre-order from Amazon.com; the Omega DLC is the online retailer's pre-purchase incentive. We assume it'll drop onto the PSN at some point, but we imagine the sooner you can get your hands on Omega, the sooner your party will rock. Of course, that's assuming Omega is a powerful monster; long-time fans will immediately think of Omega Weapon from Final Fantasy VIII...the ultimate boss. He was tough; needed Squall's Lionheart to go off a bunch of times.
If he's anything like that - and he probably won't be - in XIII-2, it'd be like cheating to have him in your party. It'd still be fun, though.

Apparently the 360 already has an exclusive weapon, which means I will never be able to get access to everything the game has to offer. I just hope they dont get anything more interesting exclusively... What irritaes me more its clear people with 360's dont appreciate this game 10k was pathetic in comparison to half a million sales on the PS3, why should they get exclusive content if they dont care. S-E has been to kind to the 360 this gen I would have loved to have Lost Odyssey, The Last Remnant but we got nothing of the sort. We have no square exclusives on the PS3 what does that say about how S-E has treated us this gen...

I hated Zell so I never used him; my party was Squall, Rinoa and Irvine. Irvine's limit was powerful if you could press the button fast enough and you were given enough time, but it was all about Squall's Lionheart for me; by far the most powerful thing in the game.
For some reason, though, I had to Mod a Chubby Chocobo card from my card deck...I hated to do it because I had a complete set but I remember concluding that it had to be done to beat Omega. I wish I could remember why...

Yuffie has her strengths. She'd be perfect if FFVII was a 4 person party game instead of 3.
She has the best luck, speed, and evade. In other words, she's the best thief class. Equipped properly, she will have 2 turns for ever one of your other character's 1 turn. She has the highest success rate with materia like steal/mug, Deathblow, throw/coin, etc.
Since stealing isn't as key as it is in FFT or FFIX, her usefulness does wear out once you get to max levels, however. But in your infancy throuhg the first half of the game, she can be quite useful for quick turns and that sort of thing.

One time you needed stealing in FFT was with Elmdor...stripping that guy clean of all his samurai stuff is a challenge. Heh.

I really hope theres an option to hide auto-battle from the menu so people stop whinning about it.

(Tortoise, which is all three as sentinal, or whatever it's called, for example, would cut all damage in half. The other 5 had their own latent effects as well. Wish they had been more creative, though. So much potential had the paradigm shift method... Too bad they didn't spend more time on it... too bad they didn't realize that's how they wanted to do battles earlier.)
Anyone else notice in the early promo for FFXIII that came out before the PS3 even came out.... that Lightning could use fire and attack in the same strand?? Pretty darn great proof there they hadn't established the battle system with enough time to really hash it out.

Whether it is hidden or not is irrelevant. If it's there at all, people will complain. Simply switching paradigms at the right moment is weaksauce strategy... You can only pre-plan 6 paradigms. Which means with 3 characters in your party... you have 6 options to choose from.... ever. Which is an average of 2 per character.
Paradigm shift has potential... no doubt. And it's a good idea... but they planned it in like.... a day it seems. Possibly over lunch.

I haven't tucked into Final Fantasy IX in many years from what I have played so far it still holds up. As I'm home for the holidays I only have my PS1 but I brought back FFIX just for that reason :)
As for my favourite I can still not decided so I just say VII, VIII, IX & X.

Still I give them credit for releasing it so early, usually we have to wait a year for a title after the Japanese release, to get it within 2 months is very impressive.

Though I just wanna ask, is Ultimate Weapon gonna fly forever?
I fought him twice but he's still flying so I never bothered.
I never found out how to get rid of him and that was 12 years ago.

Ah well, it is what it is. I definitely remember Omega from FFVIII! Rinoa's Invincible Moon (I believe it was called that) was also very helpful in that battle!
