War and Peace is his defining novel, but it's also the greatest book ever written as far as I'm concerned.

Still, I have a soft spot for Anna Karenina because the character of Anna is amazing; my second-favorite character in all of literature (second only to Maggie Tulliver in Eliot's "The Mill on the Floss").

I got a Kindle from my work so am pretty happy with that.

I have downloaded Dickens, Tolstoy, Conrad, Dostoevsky, Stevenson etc for free and now have a pretty extensive classic literature collection ready to read.

It takes a little while to adjust to reading but after a while it becomes second nature. Won't replace my book collection but it is good for the train and reading in bed.

Rocksmith, Batman:Arkham City, a few gift cards, Garfield minus Garfield book, a Flip Mino HD, cologne, "Machete" on Blu-Ray, the full set of TMNT trading cards:series 1 from the early 90's ... these were a few of the highlights. Various other things, but surprisingly no clothing. Dammit, I always get clothes! My friends and family and wife really took to the geek in me with my presents this year!

Santa was too kind this year: tally from parents, grandma and girlfriend includes Arkham city, super sf4 arcade edition, a sweet bottle of single malt scotch aged 16 years, oh yeah AN IPAD 2 that I desperately wanted but didn't even ask for since they're awfully pricey, the new chuck klosterman book, two Werner herzog box sets,a herzog interview collection book, the fantastic mr. Fox (DVD and not blu-ray, unfortunately, but love my gf for noticing I talk about that film often and don't have it in my collection:)), awesome new black leather shoes, a sweet vintage-flavored 76ers t-shirt, a nice plaid shirt, 100 bucks cash(new years is covered! Woo!), more candy and treats than I will possibly be able to eat, new over the counter medicine to get me stocked for the upcoming cold season (a family tradition!), a bag of Starbucks Christmas blend coffee, a charitable donation to a fantastic charity made in my name, and a picture frame for a pic of my just born nephew. PHEW. My loved ones were too, too kind. I'm not buying anything more than five dollars until march ;)

I got Stephen King's new book 11/23/63, a Jack LaLanne's Power Juicer(I've always wanted one), Green Lantern & Transformers: Drak of the Moon blu-rays, DJ Hero 2 w/2 turntables and a microphone(PS3), The Walking Dead Book 1 HC, and Across the Universe dvd (wanted blu-ray but wife did a great job just getting it).

I also got a picture collage of my dog that past away recently from my mom. We had the dog for 15 yrs and she just took off one day and never came back when my parents had her down at our property in Arizona. Never could find her. We think she went away to die. The picture was awesome and was very sentimental.

Overall Christmas was great this year and the whole family had a lot of fun. I loved seeing the excitement in everybodies eyes when the opened their presents. They all got stuff they really wanted.

Thanks. Ya it happened earlier this year but man did it hit me hard when I opened the present. My mom even put that it was from my dog.

Got some clothes and beanies, money, gift cards to restaurants and that's great because I love food! Got some tools and a new bat bag for my softball gear.

Other than just spent a lot of time with family and friends! It was a good Christmas! Very thankful!

Didn't get anything as far as games or electronics go which is fine by me. I have most the games I want, minus Resistance 3 and Portal 2 which I'll buy when I'm done with Skyrim whenever that happens...

I got a coffee grinder and some Christmas blend coffee from the folks. I got some nice exfoliating soap and face wash from my sister(she works at a beauty store) and a Recorder. LOL! Don't know how to play a Recorder but I will learn. She was going to get me an Ocarina instead but she didn't have enough money I guess.

From the wife I got Mario Kart 7(awesome), a second Wiimote with Wii motion plus built in and Nintendo themed Monopoly. HA!

We didn't do much. Just hung out with my parents, sister, my wife and baby. Ate some ham and hot tamales, watched Rise of the Planet of the Apes and played with the baby. Back at home now playing Zelda.

I typically don't get much, and I never get tech or games. This year I got new dishes, towels, and a sweet Penguins sweatshirt.

What makes me shake my head is how my 3 year old nephew's one grandmother goes overboard outdoing us. She got him a Wii, an iPod touch, and his own HDTV.

Oh, and Ben, enjoy the hell out of those Firefly blu-rays. Best gorram show in the 'verse.

Only 3 games this year (inFAMOUS 2, L.A. Noire, and R&C ACIT), but with my backlog that's probably for the best. X-Men: First Class and Harry Potter 7 (both parts) on Blu-ray, plus a few other movies.

My main gift is an oak cabinet(-ish) which should have been ready for Christmas, but the carpenters didn't build it to specs, so we had to get them to re-do it. It was supposed to match one I have already and it just wasn't even close. I'll get it eventually...I hope.

Our family tradition is chili con carne and movies on Christmas Eve.

I would say I did awesome. Somehow I am now the owner of a limmited edition 250 gb Xbox 360 Halo: Reach bundle. My sister bought it for me. I feel terrible because I only got her a microwave and a new tire for her car. She found it at Best Buy on Black Friday and said she just decided to get for me because she knew I loved gaming, and that I already had a PS3.

I am headed out to buy The Lost Odyssey first thing tommorrow...a game that is widely viewed as being the best JRPG of this gen. I'll probably "upgrade" to the 360 version of Fallout 3 while I'm at it. Oh, yeah. I will try to buy Alan Wake and at least 1 of the Gears of War titles if I have enough money.

Never thought I'd own a 360 to be honest. No fan of Microsofts, but I now feel excited to have a chance to play some of the 360's titles. Especially LO, AW, and Gears.

I actually got Skyrim...YAY! Having so much fun with it right now but I have a small prob. I got it for the pc and ever so often it crashes the computer ENTIRELY! Not sure what the prob is as no one can re-create the scenario. Either way totally happy. All I have to do is save constantly. Also got the underworld essential collection which I absolutely love and a pet pom named winter(fave season...love the cold).

To top it off, mega time with friends and family. We played a ton of board games :P It was super fun being around them and that's what really counts. Hope everyone had an awesome day, I know I did.

wife got me a nice leather desk chair and Skyrim for my PC - always been an fps guy - never really tried rpg's apart from the excellant ME2 but looking forward to giving this a go. Unfortunately Im working the xmas period.

I gave my brother my 80GB PS3, steering wheel, rockband guitars, buzz controllers, and a good collection of games for Xmas.

He is a policeman with a young family and I thought he deserved a good present.

So, probably for the next six months (until I can afford to buy a new PS3) I'll be relying on my PSP for my gaming fix.

Sometimes in life you get more joy from giving than receiving... :-)

As for my gifts. I received a $150 Visa Debit card. I bought myself a nice peacoat, new jeans, new Adidas Sambas and a couple shirts. And my special lady friend came over and we hung out for the majority of the day yesterday doing absolutely nothing but listening to music. Best gift of all :) I also received an iPad 2 which I promptly returned for store credit and putting towards a nice gift for my lady.

All I got was clothes, a calendar, and a decent turkey but I actually prefer it that way. I'm not a fan of buying or receiving anything that's just going to collect dust, and I already get myself the few games I have time for.

still tossing up if i should download MVC3 for the vita or not.

i miss those styled death trap games, we use to get allot of them on the old arcade systems like the classic splatterhouse.
still one of my favourite games this gen!
sure its buggy as hell, but i love a game that throws sand in your eyes then kicks you in the balls and runs off with your wallet!
it was so brutally unforgivably hard!
i really should try out dark souls, just have not had a chance yet.
i miss the good old days where finishing a game was actually a accomplishment!
like the original mortal kombats, saying you finished those was like saying you saw jesus no one believed you because it was so bloody hard!
nowadays though, the newer MK a 5 year old could finish with his eyes closed!
i wish games would go back to being tough as nails!
nothing more rewarding then spending months trying to finish something, then finally doing it!
i remember playing DMC3 on the hardest difficulty, i was stuck on the final boss battle for like 6 months!
then i finally finished it and screamed so loud i woke up the whole street!
those were the days.......

Doing a backflip is easy. Just make sure you keep your center of gravity fairly stable - if you lean to the left or right you'll be in real trouble. The best way is to just land with your body above your feet, but if you can't jump high enough you should practice that first.

I gotta say I feel absolutely ashamed I didn't pick up R3 a long time ago. Simply put the best FPS this year, at least for me that is. Just beat it and I couldn't put it down for a second.

I had an awesome Christmas, however I did not receive anything game related specifically. This is mainly due to the fact that no one in my family is into gaming and they don't understand the hobby all that well. I am also not much into actual gift buying. To be honest, I am not into the commercialism of Christmas... and what it has become today.

Nonetheless I am happy for all who got what they wished for, but more importantly, that the majority of you spent time with the people that matter in this world... your families. This has to be the most celebrated point of Christmas if nothing else, especially if one is not particularly religious. It is these precious moments with family that count ultimately.

As far as the few gifts I did receive; I received about $150 of gift cards, Kelvin Klein gear and Prada sunglasses... which, I must admit, look cool.

I will add some cash to the gift cards and pick me up some games in the coming weeks when specials drop.

Today I spent time with Skyrim on the PC... and yes, I finally received my new laptop from work that has a half decent GPU allowing me to play some games on it. I must admit though, I am not enjoying it as much as I thought I would... I may need to a little more time with it...

Well let me just make this clear!! I got a nice soft toilet seat... The porcelain ones have a high specific heat and they are a real pain in the ass on a cold morning. This new soft one is a real treat. No hemroids for me when I get older. HA!

Also I got the BluRay extended edition of The Lord of the Rings and MGS HD collection. It's so nice replaying some of the best games of all time, but man the control mechanic has not aged well.

On a side note: Eggnog and Kahlua happen to be two great things that go more than good together.

I got Batman: Arkham City, a jacket, a shirt, a manicure set and some beanies (I like keeping my ears warm, so that was much appreciated).

My daughter bought me the manicure set because someone stole my .99 cent fingernail clippers along with six ps3 games (one of them being MGS4, I was pissed). She got me a shirt too, but she wasn't supposed to do anything for me. She's the greatest gift I've ever received.

I got all kinds of family love'n. But one thing is for certain on the PC gaming side of life, some PC devs really need to get their crap together. Rage is unplayable on my machine because it crashes when trying to start a game. I have to wait for an AMD 6770m patch to release. And Bioware's Dragon Age Ultimate edition will not authorize any of my DLC missions because their efforts to prevent piracy just screws with people actually buy the game because the pirates figure out how to play it anyway even with piracy deterents. So the only guys who really get screwed are the paying customers. Lame.

I don't get many gifts these days, but that's okay, it's part of being a dad. The kids pulled in a good haul this year though, it was lots of fun.

I got the customary socks/underwear. And my mother in law got me Rocksmith, which I'm eager to try out with my Squire Strat (which hasn't seen much love this past year).

I got the wife a 10.1" Acer Iconia tab for her e-reading and facebooking. I'm holding out for the Transformer Prime for myself.

Got a Sweet Zebco Hawg Seeker fishing pole. Has an electronic alarm that beeps and flashes red when something hits the bait. Now i have 2 of these great fishing poles. I've had my 1st one for 2 years with no problems at all. Can't wait for night fishing season to get here.
Also got Gift cards i plan to use to buy the new PS3 Wireless turtle beach style headset during the 50% off Sony accessories sale. I think the Sony sale runs from today till the 21st of jan. There was an e-mail last week about it. Happy New Year All

I got a pretty nice stereo (compatible with PSP!!!) and some really awful headphones to go with it. If someone offers you Skullcandy 2XL Shakedowns...don't buy them. Even if they're free.

I really like the PSP sound quality so that stereo is pretty exciting.

I also got a Mario T-Shirt with Mario 3-style characters. Awesome. Too bad Princess Peach isn't on it. I'm a big Peach fan. lol.

Nice! I love the Kindle! I use the Kindle app on my HTC EVO. I will never read a real book again. I read way faster with my EVO Kindle. Just a fantastic idea!

My Christmas celebration is in February as that's when I can visit my family in Canada. I have to wait until then, but I'm sure it'll be well worth it because they miss me so much ;)

I did get to talk to them though, and I had a Christmas celebration with my girlfriend and some of my friends here, which was fun. Lots of Christmas cheer, and we made food with no kimchi. Yes, a meal in Korea with no kimchi...we sure broke some boundaries there.

Actually I did get a present from my friend. He knows I haven't played Red Dead Redemption yet so he bought it for me. I as well bought him Mass Effect 2 for his new PS3 because he recently switched from a 360 to a PS3 and really missed ME.

Christmas was good, kids got spoiled, lot of lego now to step on i guess lol
I received a new winter jacket :), lots of warm pj's, some movies, snow pants, boots, and money :) but i spent my half on my hubby to get him a new Video Card for the PC he felt bad but i see it as great maybe he'll shut up about the choppyness on WOW and the messages he gets on starcraft.

Nice on the Rocky Collection there, Ben. Great series. Had a good holiday that involved basketball playing, dinner and good times with friends and family.

Nabbed: MGS HD collection, Batman Arkham City (with a comic!), ICO/Shadow of the Colossus Collection, LA Noire, Duke Nukem Forever, movie tickets, some gift cards, money, A book covering Bob Dylan's entire life, Uncharted: Drake's Journal (which hasn't come but is on the way), lots of Vodka, a trench coat, a mug, and the Wrestler on Blu Ray!
