Rumor: Kratos And Deimos Anchor GoWIV Multiplayer

Many will say straight-up action games like God of War simply don't need multiplayer. But multiplayer seems to be the wave of the future (fortunately or unfortunately) and we keep seeing this rumor...

We all know that Sony Santa Monica will eventually deliver God of War IV, and we've heard that the new production might include multiplayer entertainment. And now, another source has located more evidence to support that idea.

It appears that UK publication PSM3 has said GoWIV "could possibly feature online multiplayer co-op in the form of a plot-line involving Kratos and brother Deimos attempting to escape from the afterlife." ...aside from the run-on sentence, that's intriguing. Now, the concept of multiplayer designed to extend or enrich the storyline in the campaign mode isn't exactly new, but such a concept hasn't been realized often enough, in my opinion.

As we always say, provided you don't sacrifice anything from the development of the campaign, feel free to add multiplayer. However, if the fans find that the campaign in God of War IV is anything less than astounding, they're gonna blame...yeah, you know.

Co op could be cool. Though after playing Ghost of Sparta I find it hard to see how they can make a game like they say with Deimos.

sure sure thats what they said about GOW3!
also, it would make no story sense especially if you have finished GOS.
unless they do a prequel to the whole series, a prequel to when they were kids.
but then whats the point of that?

well considering how many times kratos has been killed or cast down to hell and you just cant seem to keep the Bastard down.

multiplayer i welcome.
Not that it needs it but im sure they will come up with some interesting gameplay concepts.

and as long as it helps the replay value. i found Gow 3 didnt hold my attention anymore once i beat it, so i sold it right after.

So we'll see.

Agreed on every single point. I rented it and beat it in a dedicated weekend. Felt absolutely no need to look back. I think GOW2 was better.

I recently bought GoW3 for £5, I so when I go back I will have to play the series, I have 1&2, i Started 1 but just lost interest in all honesty.

Well another series turn crap with multiplayer first the Uncharted series although i do enjoy uncharted 2's multiplayer but still its not needed. Then the Bioshock series was ruined with multiplayer after that came the death of the AC series with add on multiplayer. Now God of War. dam u call of duty why must u effect every game i play. Cant Call of Duty die a ready.

I don't think it is fairto say Uncharted and Bioshock are crap due to multiplayer, its just an addition we didn't need. The main games of Bioshock and Uncharted are still ecxellent.

I think multiplayer will be added for two particular reasons.

1) Extend replay value for 'God of War IV' (I remember how many people complained about 'God of War III' game length).

2) Ship this game with an online pass now (notice how they said "online co-op").

As long as the game is good, I'll be interested.

There would be no need for split screen, at all... It's not a first person shooter. Although GoW doesn't need multiplayer, it sounds like a great idea and if anyone can do it, it would be sony Santa Monica. What i really want to see is a different mythology altogether.

I'm tired of seeing multiplayer BS in every game, maximize the disc space with a solid single player campaign.....I think the publisher was on to something when they created "Mag" they just tried to go to big to soon, so it had some issue's up front and people didn't jump on the wagon

Ugh.... this does nothing for me. Why? Why are they doing this? This is forcing the story! We have to go back to Hades.. again? Kratos' story is done. If there's another GOW story, it needs to be done with Krators. There is literally nothing left to explore after the two prequel games and the ending of GOW III.

It would be the most humongous load of bollocks if they didnt show what happened to kratos after gow 3, and i guess this is talking about deimos coming back from the afterlife yet again, another question who would they be escaping from in this really? well yeah hell but who's running it, hades is dead?

Don't know what the story would be about but I am interested. I mean there's no gods and kratos sacrificed himself to give us hope. The world is in ruin. Unless they pull some bullchit and make us go to that higher plane Athena was in and we find out all the gods are in that plane aswell and we have to kill them all..again to escape lol.
