The PlayStation 3's launch sure did fare well last week, with 165k units sold in the UK, and over 600k in Europe, the PS3 became the fastest selling console of all time in the region. But a new week draws new numbers, and Chart Track is reporting a sharp decline in PS3 sales for the UK. By way of GameIndustry.Biz, we've found out that sales of the PlayStation 3 have fallen 82% for the week following it's launch.
Now either the system's supply has run thin, or the initial hype frenzy has settled down, and all those who eagerly wanted a PS3 have one. And Chart Track's coverage represents 90% of the market overseas in the 'Kingdom, unlike our NPD which is closer to 80%.
On the software side of things, Resistance and MotorStorm both saw a drop of over 60% in sales. We'll keep you guys updated as we get more info.
