Sonic 4: Episode 2 Boasts A New Graphics And Physics Engine

Sonic 4: Episode 1 didn't quite satisfy all the fans. But with Episode 2, Sega has a chance to fix some minor issues.

According to a new GameSpot interview with Sega Digital Brand Manager Ken Balough, the company has listened to the fans and plan to implement several upgrades and changes in Sonic 4: Episode 2.

First and foremost, we get an all new graphics and physics engine. Balough said the first engine had some "bugs" so it was time to upgrade and furthermore, our good buddy Tails will actually be a playable character. You'll also be happy to know that the next episode will be closer to the old-fashioned Sonic games on the Genesis. Maybe Sonic really is best played in the 2D format; maybe we should just leave him there. It seems to make sense, doesn't it?

While we wait for this overhauled episode, don't forget about Sonic Generations, which is a darn good effort. Fans of the iconic blue streak are finally getting some love!

So Episode II is finally happening? about time. I played the demo of Ep1 and while it was enjoyable, I much prefered the 2D sections on Generations. But overall I do preffer the control scheme of the new 3D Sonic, hence why I put up with the misshaps of Sonic Unleashed. I think just find the gameplay more exciting than the 2D Sonic levels. All that said Sonic 2 is still and proably always will be my favourite Sonic game.

As for Sonic 4, I will keep waiting until they release a complete collection. I just do not liek the concept of paying for an incomplete game.

Hmm, this will be somewhat tempting whenever it comes. Even though generations was the one thing I bought for boxing day, how could I turn down 10 bucks?
However I don't know when I'll have a functioning ps3 again. My repaired YLOD didn't last more than a few play sessions, and the last $200 boxing day deal in my area just sold out, curses.
Maybe once the holidays finish I'll be able to get one for that price on ebay. Makes me glad I've been getting the non-exclusives for PC recently and held off on Uncharted 3 though.
It will be annoying as f*** redownloading all those updates whenever I do get another one, damn you ISP's and your bandwidth gouging.
