This Year's Most Anticipated Game
So what is it for you?
As usual, if you check out the list of scheduled releases for the upcoming year, you're faced with plenty of potential gems. But what's your most anticipated game of 2012?
After much thought, I have come to a startling conclusion: I've loved GTA ever since GTAIII and will ardently defend the franchise from all haters. I'm 99.7% certain I'll adore Grand Theft Auto V. But when Naughty Dog unveiled The Last Of Us, my commitment to my most anticipated title of 2012 began to slide... For the longest time, it was obvious; it had to be GTAV. Had to be. No contest. And in truth, I don't know enough about The Last Of Us; I really need more in the way of concrete gameplay details.
And yet, what I've seen and heard is enough. That debut trailer is just plain stunning and seeing what Naughty Dog has accomplished with the Uncharted franchise made me start to wonder. These guys can do just about anything. We could really be looking at one of the most technically accomplished and the most artistically accomplished and progressive titles of the generation. Lastly, the following words from Naughty Dog boss Christophe Balestra sealed it for me:
"We're trying to move the medium of video games into an area elevated in the same manner of respect of film. We want to redefine what our medium is even called. 'Video game' is not an accurate name anymore. It is not necessarily a game with rules and a winner and a loser. It's an experience."
I can't wait for Bioshock Infinite. I'm totally psyched for Max Payne 3. If a new God of War arrives, I'll be ecstatic. That new Alan Wake? Hell yes. And I'm always on the GTA bandwagon. But I have to admit, The Last Of Us has me more intrigued than any other game.
P.S. Yes, I'm aware it isn't written in stone that this game will launch in 2012, but we know the tentative release window, and I doubt Naughty Dog will miss it.

I'm pretty amped on Dragon's Dogma, Max Payne 3, Bioshock Infinite, FFXIII-2, Ni No Kuni, and The Last of Us so it's too hard to choose. Indecisiveness at its finest.

I have every reason to believe Mass Effect 3 will be great as well. Bioware is one the best developers out there in terms of delivering a great story. The trailer for ME3 literaly gave me goose bumps. The entire fate of the known universe and Earth is at stake and in your hands. Sign me up for what is set up to be an epic battle of good vs evil.

"I DO BELIEVE IN FAIRIES!!!"
As for games that are actually releasing, I'm probably most looking forward to Binary Domain, Overstrike, Sly 4, Bioshock Infinite and DMC. More because I'm interested in what they will be like. I mean, GTA V is easy, so is FFXIII-2, Hitman, Mass Effect, and even The Last of Us. I prefer to be surprised.
That being said, the one that I want the most is a glorious return to the fabulous fun of GTA from Rockstar, but that's a given.

Just going off of games I currently own, I need to finish my 2nd DA:O playthrough, replay the entire MGS series, get 100% in Batman: AC, start AC Brotherhood and Revalations, start LA Noir, and try to go back to WKC and figure out what's keeping me from enjoying it as much as I think I should. Oh, and I also have to go through all the pc games I bought during Steam's ridiculous Christmas sales. Yeah, a nice and quiet 2012 is exactly what I'll need to get through all of that. Lol

Well I guess I can't be called a true gamer. I'm only stuck to a few franchises that gets the "must owned" for me. If not Gran Turismo, I like games that requires a bunch of hours, exploration, and engaging game mechanics. I'm not really into the 10-15 hours of linear gameplay. Games like Uncharted and God of War is incredibly great, but perhaps rpgs have really set the standard on what I really like to play. Cause of this I hope the Last of Us won't be as linear as Uncharted.

Metal Gear Solid HD Collection - We're finally getting it in the UK, I pre-ordered it off amazon and am getting it half price! Looking forward to seeing MGS2 & 3 in widescreen and finally playthrough all of Peace Walker, me and my flatmate are going to play the whole series in chronological order cant wait!
I would say Catherine, but I got it already :P
Games I am mildly cruious about:
Bioshock Infinite - Looking forward to seeing the complete contrast the series is offering, easily the best storytelling in FPS gaming.
Soul Calibur V - The series is finally getting a facelift, much needed ever since Soul Calibur II
Max Payne 3 - Always enjoyed MP games, so I have my eye out for this still :)
Tomb Raider - It has accepted defeat from Uncharted, so it is now tacking a different route, its the 1st Tomb Raider I have ever got excited about.
GTAV - I hope it has more to offer, I got bored of GTAIV after the 2nd island.
Other than that a few titles like FF Type-0, Versus XIII and The Last Gaurdian if they are released this year.

Doubt I'll get to play them all but I definitely can't wait for these games. I was never really able to get into GTA and I haven't really enjoyed any Rockstar games other than Red Dead. I didn't like LA Noire and I have nothing against anyone who did but I just didn't care for it. I've tried and tried but I guess GTA just isn't within my personal tastes. Maybe it's the setting that I can't connect with?

Oblivion were released in 2006, Fallout 3 in 2008. If history repeats itself I guess Fallout 4 will be announced at this years E3 and released in 2013...

These are my most anticipated but so far the lineup for 2012 is not as good as 2011's but we'll see.
The surprise I'm hoping for is another Burnout, isn't it about time now eh Criterion?
