Square Enix Teasing More Final Fantasy Versus XIII Info
Although we haven't seen anything for nearly a full year, Square Enix insists the team is still "working hard" on Final Fantasy Versus XIII.
It's a generally accepted idea that once Final Fantasy XIII-2 is out the door in both Japan and North America, we'll start seeing an influx of media and info concerning Versus XIII. And that might be very true.
According to what Square Enix producer Yoshinori Kitase told EDGE magazine, fans shouldn't be worried that the long-awaited game has hit a snag:
"...then there’s Versus XIII, which is currently in development. We released a trailer in January and since then there has been nothing, but I can assure you the team is working extremely hard on it and I think people will be excited when they next see it."
If we wanted to dissect that statement, we could say that Kitase and Co. have a few surprises in store for us...i.e., that Versus XIII might look a little different than the last time we saw it. Perhaps it's just the way the comment reads. Regardless, we should start seeing new details; FFXIII-2 launched in Japan last month and is slated to hit store shelves in North America on January 31. That's only a few weeks away now.
So after that, we can finally get a big unveiling, right? Right?

Seriously, FFXIII was delayed because M$ demanded simultaneous release, and that delayed was because it was for the optimization for the 360's version. SE better not pull this off again, or I'm officially done supporting them (bargain and used purchases for the future), and hopefully Team Nomura will leave. SE, you're on my last straw.

This also means another thing, full development for FFv13 will most probably start 100% once Kingdom hearts 3D is finished since Nomura and many of his KH team is the one involved in FFv13. So my bet is wait after KH3D is finish then we'll see lots of FFv13.

True. But Nomura has supposedly threatened consequences if Versus went multiplat. And Square-Enix is already in dire financial straits as it is. The last thing they need now is more bad publicity. And Nomura (and possibly at least some of his team) leaving in anger would undoubtedly fit the bill. Such a development would almost certainly cause their stocks to take another hit.

That changed later however but I was lucky to get into the likes of Uncharted, Batman, Demon's Souls, and Resistance while waiting for this game. It's almost time for a generation change, and we still don't have much on this game. Sad really, but a part of me is still excited.

And it will be a late-gen RPG, which is the best kind. I am confused as to why it's taking so long, though.
BTW I like the notion of Noctis becoming a carefree high school girl. It would certainly be a character that hasn't shown up in many realistic RPGs. With the kind of violence and "Real world RPG powers" I'm expecting, maybe a realistic depiction of a fairly normal person in crazy land could be really cool. I mean, the "real world" usually doesn't have guys with 8-buckle overcoats, laser arms or giant swords.
Would be nice to see, hmm?

Seriously though, when they say real RPG, I believe they mean a world rooted in the real world, but with a Final Fantasy look and feel to it, especially with the characters. Kind of like Midgar was an evil corporation bound to ruin the planet through over use of Mako, Versus will have similar themes, while retaining an interesting and possibly unbelievable set of characters. While the theme is rooted in the real world, we'll still see people with giant swords and belt buckles, which is a style distinctly Japanese anyways which doesn't really bother me.
I just hope the story is great, and the gameplay does something distinctly unique when it comes to action RPGs. I want to do some of the things Noctis does that we saw in the trailer where you can teleport to where you throw your sword, and switch to multiple weapons as they're zipping around you deflecting bullets. I really hope they can capture this.

Teleport to your enemy, slash the hell out of him and basically keep wrecking havoc as only the "royalty" would be able to.
I can't wait to see the premise which was described as "a prince with a depressing weight on his shoulders of being the defender of crystals".
Damn. Grown ups can finally immerse themselves into "a fantasy that's based on reality" xDD See what I did there xDDD

I don't know if I would say "most" of the fans. But definitely a large and significant number of them, that's for sure. Versus is probably Square-Enix's last and best chance to win them back. If they screw this one up on the other hand there's really going to be hell to pay. Faith in them is already at an all-time low and rightfully so. The last thing they need is yet another significant push in that direction.

only square could announce a game and show nothing but 2 trailers in 6 years!
and announce multiple games and release multiple games in the meantime.
ive lost all interest in this game!
hell, ive lost all interest in $E!
only thing they could do to win me back is announce KH3, but that will never happen!
for some reason since 2 released a law passed saying KH is restricted to portables.....
sigh.

But its funny we also hear people complain when their games take long time to produce~
Anyway, people should realize the reason the game is not under full development yet is because the main head of FFv13 (Tetsuya Nomura) is currently working on KH series~ why cant people see that point? Just let Nomura finish KH3D then he'll start working on FFv13, if the developement's still slow at that time then its logical to complain~

Despite being able to announce, create and released a handful of games before anything concrete about this game is released. As well as being able release FFXII-2. (Yes, I know its basically using the same engine as regular XIII, but still.) Sometimes, I wonder if S-E can even deliver anymore...
