Disaster Report Creator Working On New Title For PS3, Vita

It just doesn't feel like a new year until a studio teases a secret game.

In this case, it's former Irem designer Kazuma Kujo, who has confirmed via his Twitter page that his freshly formed Granzella studio is working on a new title for the PlayStation 3 and PlayStation Vita.

Irem is best known for the moderately well-received Disaster Report series as well as Bumpy Trot. Kujo's Granzella team should feature a talented group of developers, but we have no specifics concerning the new title; all we know is that it'll be a downloadable game. We also know it'll be a new IP, so don't expect another Disaster Report installment. Kujo simply says "it's a secret" and we'll just have to live with that for now.

But if you're looking for something similar to the realistic post-apocalyptic theme Irem once adopted, you should be interested in I Am Alive, which is slated to arrive this year. As for Granzella, we'll keep you apprised of any new developments regarding the unknown title.

Based on Granzella's Home presence, I'd say it was something to do with a beach resort...LOL!

I think it's fairly clear that Japan is not wanting another disaster report right now (Disaster report 4 was cancelled after the 2011 earthquake/tsunami). I wonder what they will do?

Highlander,
This notation below is from the original article I had sent Ben, & that DR4 wasn't actually cancelled, just postponed....

....
This past November, Kujo revealed that Disaster Report 4, originally thought to be cancelled because of the Japanese earthquake and tsunami, was not cancelled because of the disasters that rocked Japan. Kujo also stated he had left Irem, the game studio responsible for the games.

Irem kind of went into a tail spin earlier this year too. It was never clear what the reason was and then Granzella was formed. It appeared that the owner of Irem wanted to go in a different business direction. So the departures and formation of Granzella might indicate part of the reason for the cancellation. I still think that the real life disaster may have had an impact in terms of the Irem parent making a decision to go in another direction precipitating things like the cancellation of a game and departure of various key contributors. Certainly Irem has always been one of the better providers of virtual items for your avatar in Home, and there's no way on Earth that they were losing money on that, either in Japan or here, and yet that too was discontinued by Irem. It seems that for whatever reason Irem abruptly changed course in late spring 2011.
