Silent Hill: Downpour Lands March 6 Release Date
The game was delayed for the sake of extra refinement and polish, but now it seems to have a finalized launch date.
According to Rely On Horror, Silent Hill: Downpour will release in North America on March 6.
Most agreed the developers needed more time with this new entry; as we noted when we first heard about a possible delay, much of the feedback had been negative, which may have inspired developer Vatra to push harder. The only problem now is that it has to compete with Mass Effect 3, which launches on the same say. Of course, the two titles are completely different but hey, gamers have priorities and they usually don't have limitless bank accounts.
That being said, the survival/horror fans deserve a top-quality title this generation. That's not a knock on Resident Evil; that's merely recognition of the greatness of the Silent Hill franchise. Don't let us down, Vatra!

I have to respectfully disagree with that statement. Dead Space is full of cheap little scares that barely ever made me think twice about what could be in my closet, or even under my bed. However, the Silent Hill series sticks to you. Something about its environment and unsettling monsters really makes me think twice about going to sleep without a light on sometimes. There's a fine line between scares that last a moment, and scares that just... Stick with you.
In the long run, having that feeling of horror and scared paranoia is what can make a game memorable, and much more fun. That's real horror. Not the cheap jumps.

I agree in that Silent Hill is a way more "get under your skin" type of psychological horror. However, I realised my ability to even feel really scared has diminished with age. While playing Dead Space 2, I realised that I would have been more scared if I had experienced DS2 say, at the time I played SH2. Also, after speaking to my mates, I accept that different types of horror scare / appeal to different types of people.

By the way, Ben, I spotted a typo. "The only problem now is that it has to compete with Mass Effect 3, which launches on the same say."
I believe you meant to type on the same 'day'? Just tryin' to help out since I see no one else has spotted it yet :)

I only played a small portion of the game, however, and being an avid Silent Hill fan, I'll probably check out the full production when it's released.
