GameFly's Most Requested 2011 Title ISN'T Modern Warfare 3

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 can't win everything.

Although it was by far the most popular game of 2011 based on sales numbers, it didn't win the most wanted crown at GameFly.

It has been revealed that Rocksteady's critically acclaimed Batman: Arkham City was the game rental service's most requested title in 2011. It topped both the Cross-platform and Xbox 360 list, but couldn't quite beat out Uncharted 3: Drake's Deception on the PS3 list. Click through the link above to view all the top 10 lists for each major gaming platform.

Here's the one for the PS3:

  • 1. Uncharted 3: Drake's Deception
  • 2. Batman: Arkham City
  • 3. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3
  • 4. Battlefield 3
  • 5. Dead Island
  • 6. Assassin's Creed: Revelations
  • 7. Saints Row: The Third
  • 8. Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim
  • 9. Resistance 3
  • 10. Rage

Man, why even bother to rent Skyrim? You know you'll never return it once you start it. Anyway, I'm wondering if GameFly has since added more new copies of the most popular games; when I was a member, it felt like they had three copies of any highly anticipated title. There was just no chance of getting it in the first month of availability. Has that changed?

Thankfully, I get most everything I need from publishers now. ;)

Not surprised by that one bit, because as the sales numbers show, it was the biggest seller of 2011.

i was gonna try to get a free extended trial of gamefly by putting the word online in somewhere when you apply but i needed to use a new email address. i was to lazy to make a new email so i didnt bother. good to see people want to play uncharted 3 though. would have been better if they just went and bought the game. some people dont like to actually save their games though for some reason. for some reason people think that gamestop gives them their moneys worth for their used games

I've found that if I really want to get a new game from Gamefly, I delete every game that has already released from my gameQ. Then when the release date for that game comes, it's the only one they can send me. It's a cheap way to get a game that nobody has played before, unless the gamefly people get to play games before they come out.

I do the same "trick". As all new releases usually get released on a Tuesday, I clear my list on Sundays because GF will mail it out on Monday and I always get the game on Wednesday. One day after release day is good enough for me. I don't NEED it day 1. I'm patient enough, and day 2 is just fine with me.

@Ben, yes they have gotten extremely better at having more than just 3 copies of the hottest games. In my experience of course. I have never had to wait more than a week for a new release, but you have your publisher plug, so it matters not to you.

Start a site, get noticed, get on publisher mailing lists. Simple.

......I did none of that, by the way. That was already done when I got here. LOL

So you got here when approximately 75% of the work was done? The other 25% is more or less writing reviews, editorials, doing polls, giveaways, managing a Youtube channel and Home space, and getting the free games?... you lucky bastard! ;D

I'm really a sad Panda after seeing all of those lists.
Since I've been out of work, so far I've only been able to get one game out of all those....Rage

Hmmm, I've never used GF, so I'm wondering why there wasn't any PSP games list included there, or don't they rent/sell PSP games too?????

Yes they do rent/sell PSP games. I wonder why it wasn't mentioned.

I bet people were mad when they rented bf3 and couldn't play the MP. I mean the campaign is awesome it really is. But i'm betting most people were renting it with intentions of playing MP. The game doesn't even come with one of those 7 day trial of the online pass.

I rented 1,2,4,5 and currently have 6. Only thing that sucks I couldn't play the Catwoman DLC with Arkham City.

Ben! I love Gamefly....I get my game pretty much on day 1 release (depending on if I get my other games back in time). Play it...love it, then decide to keep it and pay about 10-20.00 less than retail. That's how I picked up skyrim!
