Final Fantasy XIII-2 Demo Available On PSN Next Week

Hey, did we get a demo for Final Fantasy XIII? I'm actually asking here; I forget.

Anyway, in the latest PlayStation Blogcast episode, we learn that a Final Fantasy XIII-2 playable demo will drop onto the PlayStation Network on January 10.

They also talk about the Vita quite a bit, but that's not the point. The point is that we can all play FFXIII-2 a few weeks early...which means we get to complain about it a few weeks early. No, just kidding. With every new FF installment comes fresh hope, despite the reservations that come along with an unchangeable party with only two human characters (the third being a recruited monster of some kind), and the inability to play as the protagonist (Lightning) from FFXIII. Well, didn't Famitsu give it a very rare perfect score? ...of course, they gave FFXIII a 39/40, so you never know.

Maybe we should play it and give you our impressions. Maybe the Final Fantasy fan inside me (he's on life support, but still breathing) will emerge from his deadly funk.

Great news but not sure it was a good idea to do so .

Put a town and some side quest beside one part of the main one and it might change some people mind about not buying it ( only way to maybe make me change my mind ). Otherwise it might cause the game to have less sales .

Hmm, pretty excited to find out what it's like. Even if I don't like it it'll be interesting to see the changes.

Providing the changes are in the demo :P It's pretty hard to do a demo of an RPG.

Just think, after 13-2 comes out here, we'll start hearing about Versus...

I don't think there was a demo for FFXIII.

I'll download and play the demo for XIII-2 just out of curiosity, but I don't expect it to be to my liking. It would be a nice surprise if I'm wrong.

Still haven't finished FF XIII. It just didn't have enough in it to really pull me in like other Final Fantasies.

Once I finally get round to FF XIII, THEN I might check out FF XIII-2. Too many other games I need to get through first, Demon's Souls being one of them.

This is good news for someone like me who's never touched a single FF.

As someone who had never touched a single FF prior to FF13 I *strongly* advice you to try the demo before considering a buy.
To put it that way.

if final fantasy 13 had a demo, as a long time final fantasy fan, i never would've bought final fantasy 13. at least not until it went down to $20. i maybe/was a final fantasy fan but i'm also a gamer.

Let's hope those Japanese reviews were actually on the ball and they're not just hyping it because of national pride.

Either way I'm excited, even if it could be a let down. I like to still psyche myself up for Square games because it reminds me of a time past when there were so many good ones.

Vagrant Story 2 anyone? Come on Square!!! Ashley has Lea Monde's powers. I want to control that!

Pauses Skyrim

Yawns at the idea of bothering to play a FF demo instead of playing Skyrim.

Goes back to playing Skyrim.

Yeah. Though the idea of some pink-haired skeletal prepubescent ex-crystalised harajuku wannabe running around with an Aladin ripoff doesn't seem too enticing to me.

After 40+ years of gaming, I'm still trying to like RPG's, so I'll at least try it out on the off chance I might finally be able to get into a FF(even if it is a FF Lite).

Beamboom,
No, I meant JRPG's and other true RPGs.

I like the lighter games like Fallout, ME, etc.

I object to your usage of the phrase "true RPGs".

The only true RPGs are those played with polyhedral dice.

;P

Fane,
So it just shows I don't know my RPG's, lol.

So how's about calling them "real" RPG's then?

Can't remember if we got a FFXIII demo.

We got a FFXII demo for folks who bought Dragon Quest VIII.

The best part of this article is the last sentence.

OMG, are you serious about the permanent parties??! I remember you saying that in another one of your articles. Can't remember if I asked you or not though xD

Definitely going to download the demo.

I got FFXIII on day one...and I still haven't finished it. In fact I've thought about playing the original FF on my phone or downloading FF3 for the iPad, but almost nothing about finishing FFXIII...maybe this demo will jump start my desire to finish it!
