Euro Retailers Hint At March 2013 Launch For GTAV

Some sources have said May or June, which is encouraging. But recent European evidence points toward a longer a wait.

According to some info posted in the GTAForums, estimated release dates for Grand Theft Auto V have been found at a German and Norwegian retailer (GameStop.de and GameZone.no).

It's obvious that both only have placeholder dates, but the interesting part is that both dates are in 2013; March 2013, to be more exact. The German GameStop site gives GTAV a March 18, 2013 date, while GameZone.no says it'll be here on March 31, 2013. Now, games can launch later in Europe but recently, most big titles release only a few days later in Europe as compared to the North American launch. Another point to consider is that Rockstar's Max Payne 3 is set for a release this March, so many are wondering if GTAV would be on store shelves as soon as May...

Well, as far as we're concerned, the sooner the better. It's GTAV, damnit. Sooner, please.

I think it'll launch around christmas of this year it's one of those titles that scream sales and everyone is going to want it around that time. Maybe we'll see more about it at E3 this year.

I just don't see this game releasing in May. Max Payne 3 needs all the press coverage and advertising Rockstar can afford. I doubt they would release Grand Theft Auto V (a game that will definitely sell upwards of 10 million) while coverage for Max Payne 3 goes unnoticed.

If this does release in May then sweet but my guess is Fall 2012.

i never really thought it would drop this year (not sure why everyone was so quick to assume it would) i have a feeling it could be october because GTA always released in october last gen & IV was originally planned for october 07. so i get the feeling they'd like to get back to that routine. but stil if i was putting money on it i'd say 2013 even though i'd love it this year.

As long as i can use a bicycle to bunny hop over trucks coming the other way i think i can wait till RS are good and ready to release it.

When it concerns Rockstar, I only listen when it comes out the horses mouth. Rockstar are super secretive about everything they do, especially release dates.

I hope for a later rather than sooner release for GTAV. I can't afford as many games per year as I have been accustomed to, and this one would have to be a pass if it is released this year.

Honestly, I'm thinking it will be a Fall release date, most likely in October. As TheCanadianGuy said, if you look at previous GTA release dates:

GTA: October 1997
GTA II: October 1999
GTA III: October 2001
Vice City: October 2002
San Andreas: October 2004
Liberty City Stories: October 2005
Vice City Stories: October 2006
GTA IV: March 2009, though it was originally supposed to release in October 2008.

Rockstar really seems to like releasing GTA in October. I'm personally hoping to see it then or before then.

nice dude i didn't know the first 2 came out in october aswell. also think you got your wired crossed on IV it was april 08 originally october 07.but its all good. i hope its released this october be nice to have new GTA in the fall again been to long

Yes indeed :) And you're right- GTA IV was April 08 originally October 07, I don't know what I was thinking when I was typing that. But yeah, for real! It's been way too long since a proper GTA has been released. I'm SO ready to go back to Los Santos in GTA V.

yup! me to i'm so pumped! i loved GTA 3 VC & SA so much i still play them regularly. i liked IV and episodes from liberty to but just not the same way as the PS2 games but from what they've said so far it sounds like this will be a return to form for our beloved Grand Theft Auto!
