Oddworld: Munch's Oddyssee Confirmed For PS3, Vita

Can't get enough Oddworld? We've got good news.

Not long after Oddworld: Stranger's Wrath HD launched on the PlayStation Network, another Abe adventure gets confirmed for the PSN. This one will also be redone in attractive high-definition visuals.

According to developer Just Add Water's Twitter page, Oddworld: Munch's Oddyssey will be delivered to PS3, PlayStation Vita, and other platforms. Here's the Tweet:

"Coming Q2 2012, for PS3/Vita and others ;)"

As a reminder, if you're looking for the original title, which was well ahead of its time and was more of a puzzle/platformer, that too is on the Network. The controls can be a little tricky but once you've got them, you're in for one of the most unique and unbelievably well designed quests ever. Munch's Oddyssee was good, too, though, so stay tuned for more info.

Personally, I don't think they should've gone away from that first formula. But these days, if there's not at least some semblance of action, it's tough to sell. Shorter attention spans and such.

Abe's Oddysee HD has already been confirmed. The developers of Just Add Water are planning a release for Q1 2013.

They're a small company (only eight people as of now) so working on all these projects takes time.

Let's hope we see new Oddworld games?

I'm glad that these are finally coming to PlayStation, but I'm more interested in seeing this bring fresh Oddworld titles back into production. Maybe Lorne Lanning wouldn't have become so frustrated if he hadn't abandoned the company and fanbase that brought his games success in the first place? PlayStation is where we've always been.

Just Add Water actually announced back in April of last year they plan to "revive a shelved title from the 90s". Apparently it's an Oddworld RTS known as 'Hand of Odd'.

No idea yet what platform, release date/window, etc. yet but at least there's a new game confirmed in development.

It's funny how 'Oddworld: Munch's Oddysee HD' is getting attention now. I mean, websites continue reporting that this game is now "announced" yet I remember the actual announcement back in April last year. Even Just Add Water said the same on Twitter.

Still, very happy to see it's receiving attention. Can't wait to play this game again (in HD now).
