Gran Turismo 5 DLC: 6 New Cars, Route X Test Course
Gran Turismo 5 is huge; it can keep the dedicated racer occupied for months.
But every game can use fresh content, and another batch of downloadable content for Polyphony's masterful title is headed our way.
It drops tomorrow (January 17) and it comes in two pieces: the first is the third Car Pack for $5.99; it boasts six new cars from the past and present, and that includes the breathtaking Lamborghini Aventador, pictured here. There's also the Jaguar XJR-9 LM Racecar, Aston Martin V12 Vantage, 66' Volkswagen 1200, Mini Cooper S Countryman, and Nissan Leaf.
The second piece is the Speed Test Course Pack, which consists of the Route X test course. This retails for $3.99 and you already caught a glimpse of the track if you saw the promo trailer for the new Acura NSX Concept car. The track can be used in both Arcade and Practice modes. Oh, and don't forget that the XL Edition of the game also hits store shelves on Tuesday, so if you missed out earlier...

My problem with the DLC though is that kindof imbalances the game just getting these beautiful cars right away, not working for them. I'm more interested in tracks myself. Perhaps when I actually am rolling in money and have a huge garage of powerful cars I won't care so much about that issue.

Truth be told, this pack is being well received on GTPlanet (for example) and that is saying something.
Easy there with the hostilities towards the 1966 VW Bug. I am especially excited over that being how it was my first car. Outside of the that, it's impact on the automotive world is quite significant.
With the Leaf, it's a milestone of sorts due to it's all electric drive system and it is known the Kaz's decisions on why to include cars are based on more then "tire shredding" performance.
The Lambo and Aston are hugely requested cars, so if the GT500 is that important to you, I suggest you start a movement on GTPlanet for it will get to PDI.
Considering that you don't play GT5 anymore, I expected an unpleasant stance on the price point. Ten bucks for the DLC means nothing less then going out to eat for me. What DLC have you purchased recently if I might ask?

I don't support this market. I won't be buying any add ons for Skyrim or any of those games from last year. BF3 might be the exception, but I might not even buy the map packs for the that. The first DLC was free so I aint tripping. I just hate knowing I paid money for content that should have been avaible from the beginning. If it isn't an expansion then you can miss me with this add-on ish...lol But I might pick up some of this DLC for GT5 because this is the onlu racer I still play. Grid got boring fast..;)

The first DLC on GT5 that featured Spa was well worth it. The value of the cars is easily subjective, but Spa is track that is legendary to drive on, right up there with the 'Ring, only shorter.
Track "X" which comes out this Tuesday looks to be quite the time waster with all the features on that track. You can finally see what your ACR can do when you hit that 12 km straight. ;)

I know that once the hosting costs and the direct costs of the devs have been taken into account a fair chunk of this will have disappeared but that is just silly money.
On a normal retail sale, 30% of the money goes to the publisher and 27% to the store. With DLC the store (PSN) should have a reduced take meaning even more goes to the publisher and subsequently the Devs.
