Jaffe: Twisted Metal "About 1,000 Times Better" Than TM Black

The comparisons are probably inevitable, despite the decade-long gap.

We haven't seen a Twisted Metal on consoles since Twisted Metal: Black rocked our socks back in 2001. And with David Jaffe and Co. ready to launch the reboot (let's face it; that's what it is) on February 14, it's a hot topic of conversation at Jaffe's Twitter page. And in regards to how the new title stacks up to Black, Jaffe said:

"I liked TMB a lot and I think this game- in campaign and MP- is about 1000 times better than TMB. But I am biased, of course:)!"

He also dishes on a few gameplay-related details; just check out the Tweets. But another point of interest shows up in his most recent Tweet; it involves the rumors that THQ might be on the auction block:

"Dear Gaming Gods: If THQ really is for sale, please let someone buy it and hire me to run it creatively. Kthx!"

Now wait a minute, Dave...didn't you just start up your own studio? What gives? Well, at any rate, we'll have to see what happens with THQ and by the way, if you never played TM Black, it's included in all the first-run copies of Twisted Metal. Jaffe himself made the announcement.

Seeing as how the new one is primarily multiplayer only, I beg to differ.

I think I recall Jaffe mentioning that he wanted to make TM a MP only game, but Sony insisted there must be a story mode as well. I hope it has a decent SP mode.

I don't know what to make of Jaffe's comments rearding THQ. Is Jaffe unhappy about his current situation?

Jaffe wanting to run THQ creatively? How crazy would that be? His top 5 games of this year were some I hadn't thought of. All great choices too. Anyone else think he'd be a good choice?

Anyway, I can't wait for Twisted Metal. I can hear the revving engines and the carnage already!

I think in the story department Black is superior from what I've seen. Other than ST's story, I can't really take any of the new ones seriously in this new game.

But the gameplay for the new one looks just as good if not better. However, we'll see come the 14th of February.

The multiplayer is going to be first rate I believe, a very unique and fresh take on the shooter genre.

Ha! Just imagine how bonkers Saint's Row, Red Faction and the WWE games could be with Jaffe in charge, not to mention Darksiders. That'd be fun.

I hope that he's not blowing these statements about to increase interest in the new TM. I really do hope that the campaigns are awesome, but one way or the other, I can't wait to get my hands on this one.

Where is the Pub for this game, Not 1 advertisement, not 1 commercial an were 1 month out. Sony been doin this all gen an then wonder why great exclusives don't sell well.. Just my 2 cents but im pissed off there has be ZERO excitment built up about this game, talked to guy today if i wouldn't have told him twisted metal was releasing a game again he would of never known. Rant over.. I am sooo stoked for this game.
