Max Payne 3 Pushed Back To May
Yeah, we all thought it was coming in March. But at least we have more time to dig into other big titles, like Mass Effect 3, Syndicate, and Twisted Metal.
Today, Rockstar Games has announced a finalized launch date for one of the most anticipated franchise installments of the generation: Max Payne 3 will release for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 on May 15 in North America and May 18 internationally. The PC version will follow on May 29 in NA and June 1 elsewhere.
Initially given an estimated March launch window, MP3 could - and by all rights, should - be one of 2012's best titles. Rockstar Games founder Dan Houser says they plan to "bring powerful storytelling back to the action-shooter genre." And as for the reason behind the delay, Take-Two chairman and CEO Strauss Zelnick simply said they wanted to "ensure that Max Payne 3 delivers the highest quality."
Utilizing the gritty cinematic approach found in previous entries, the game also offers "precise and fluid gunplay," along with the return of the patented bullet-time feature. For the first time in series history, multiplayer will be an option, and that ought to be awfully entertaining. Just be patient, people.
