Mass Effect 3 Demo Makes Valentine's Day Even Sweeter
So what if you're alone this Valentine's Day? Gaming has you covered in more ways than one, so don't get all mopey.
Not only are several anticipated titles slated for February 14 (including Twisted Metal), but you'll also get to sample what is quite possibly the single biggest RPG of 2012.
BioWare has announced that a playable Mass Effect 3 demo will be available on February 14 on the PlayStation Network, Xbox Live Marketplace, and PC. You'll play through the opening sequence, which means you'll have to fight off Reapers as they continue their invasion of earth. We'll even have the opportunity to test out the new co-op multiplayer mode, and for those of you playing on the Xbox 360, the demo is compatible with Microsoft Kinect.
Just remember that you'll need an online pass for that co-op mode, which you got if you picked up Battlefield 3 last year. Otherwise, you'll have to wait a few more days (until February 17), when co-op in the demo becomes available to all. Lastly, playing the demo will unlock the N7 Armor and Omniblade Daggers for the upcoming Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning, which is slated to arrive on February 7. Mass Effect 3, if you've already forgotten, will be on store shelves on March 6.

But what ME2 does is excel at story telling, character development, and that general feeling that the crew of the Normandy is involved in something big, really big.
Plus, it doesn't hurt that ME2 has some cool solar system to solar system starship action.

This is why I get so frustrated when people write it off as just a "shooter", cause it's not about the guns, maps or the mechanics. It's all about the atmosphere, the characters, the stories.

......okay, fanboy rant over. I'm pleased to the the interplay between Kingdoms and ME3. Hopefully developers and publishers will continue give gamers more incentives like these. It certainly seems like a good means of increasing awareness of other titles and new IPs.
