PSXE Poll Update: A Great Many Don't Care About FFXIII-2
You might want to pay attention, Square Enix. Fans aren't exactly drooling over your new game.
We asked our readers how excited they were for Final Fantasy XIII-2, and on a scale of 1 to 5 (1 being not interested at all; 5 being super psyched), the answer was clear: the vast majority voted 1; i.e., they "don't care at all."
If there is a silver lining in this, it's that quite a few staunch supporters of the game voted 5. In fact, it was the second-highest group...although there were nearly three times as many people who placed their excitement level at a 1. Perhaps FFFXIII-2 will be one of those love/hate games, but there's no doubt that Square Enix has lost a few fans with this one. On the plus side, let's not forget that several early reviews have been quite positive, and have informed gamers that S-E did indeed fix a lot of the issues that plagued FFXIII.
This week, it's time to gauge your interest for another game; it just went gold and it'll be here on February 14. In this case, we're a little worried that younger gamers have never even heard of the iconic Twisted Metal franchise, and it may be up to the veterans to drive sales. So just like last week, on a scale of 1 to 5, where do you stand?

I am sorry to say that I have very little interest in Twisted Metal. I still own Twisted Metal Black so it's not like I have not been exposed to the series. It's more like my tastes in games have changed and evolved over the years. I don't think this game is going to very well. I have noticed thread activity for TM is almost nonexistent. I know it's not scientific but it would appear there is very little hype or buzz going on with this game. Maybe it is because younger gamers aren't familar with this series, but the last time I noticed low thread counts when it came to a game was Resistance 3. That game was considered a flop for the most port.

I know they've done some pretty stupid things in the past, but FF series is known for it's visual prowess. Even FFXIII looked sweet. I can't see them giving that kind of credit to Unreal in the FF series. Even they aren't that stupid....

As for TM, it isn't going to be a day 1, but I'll get it later this year when the price drops, provided the SP turns out well.

If by some miracle they began to again resemble their former glory, what they became/did this game gen, I'm confident would not be forgotten. SE really screwed up in my honest opinion.

I have a friend who is 20 now, and he hadn't even heard of Twisted Metal. I'm only 4 years older than him, so it really threw me for a loop when he told me that. I'll be having him play it when I get it.

I know have my PS3 back so I will begin re-playing XIII - first time since I platinum, I wonder if it will hold up or not - we'll see. But as for XIII-2 I voted XIII-2. I am still so happy we're getting it Feburary, When they said winter 2012 I really did think December. Pre-ordered and cannot wait.
As for Twisted Metal, I briefly played Twisted Metal Black, never got into it.

I was hugely disappointed with 13 ( stopped at chapter 12 )and did nt really care for 13-2 until the demo .Went from 1 to 4 after trying it.
it will definetely be better then 13 since it seem there will be towns , sidequests and the bad weapon upgrade is nt present .
I ll buy it once the price go down a little for sure .
You should do another poll to see how many of those who voted 1 actually bought the game after a price drop . I m rdy to bet at least half of them will buy it in a couple of months .

Hehe - don't forget us veterans whose first console is the PS3. I had never heard of Twisted Metal earlier either. There *are* gamers to be found outside the Playstation sphere too, you know... ;)

This won't matter to me. I have to platinum WKC2, and guild my guild to as high a level as we can attain, then I have Uncharted 3 to finish, Atelier Totori to play/finish, Qoga to play/finish, HyperDimension Neptunia 2 to play when it arrives, Aterlier Meruru to pay when it arrives, Ni No Kuni (Wrath of the White Witch) to play when it arrives, tales of Graces F to play, Rune Factory tides of Destiny might get a play, and there is a new PS3 Rune factory game coming too, but I don't know much about either - yet. Then I still have to finish Fate extra on the PSP, Xenogears, and lay my hands on a copy of Dragon Quest 8.
So, FF games? Meh, who cares? I don't.

and "Aterlier Meruru to pay when it arrives" should be "Aterlier Meruru to >play< when it arrives"

I mean, I think it looks like a great game. If you're into vehicular combat then can't go wrong with David Jaffe I'm sure but just not for me.
Still, I'd purchase 12 copies of 'Twisted Metal' over 'Final Fantasy XIII-2'. So, my vote is 'Twisted Metal': 2/5, 'Final Fantasy XIII-2': .5/5
I do wish David Jaffe the best and hope 'Twisted Metal' sells at least 2 million copies like he hopes. He's a very talented director (in regard to the 'God of War' series I mean).

While I know that I won't be purchasing it day 1, I could still appreciate that SE did listen to the fans, TO SOME EXTENT.
The horrid "mash-X-to-win" battle system is still intact, but some elements have been improved upon like:
-being able to change party leader mid-battle,
-control immediately switched to the next character if your party leader is KO'd,
-there seems to be towns, you can actually go up and talk to people,
-there are actual shops (not the only one at a save point >.<) and,
-some illusion of choice (anyone who's played the demo will know what I mean).
All in all, it's definitely a better sequel to the disaster that was XIII, but my heart still yearns for turn-based combat.

Truth is, no one really demanded for FFXIII-2, the sequel itself is a Paradox since it deals with the ending of the former game. If there was any achievement SE did with releasing the game was invoking fans to look more forward to VersusXIII, which had been planned to be released at the same time as FFXIII.
