Rumor: God Of War IV, Syphon Filter 4 To Be Announced
February ought to be mighty interesting if this proves true.
According to the latest issue of PLAY magazine (as cited by SilleGamer), two hot new PlayStation 3 exclusives will be announced next month: God of War IV and Syphon Filter 4.
The source claims that SF4 is currently in development at SCE London studio and the game is scheduled for a Winter 2012 release. Here's a blurb from the magazine that has everyone talking:
"As far as our spies tell us, Syphon Filter 4 will be announced and released during 2012 – they’re not often wrong either. Developed by SCE London Studio (once thought to be Sony Bend), it will see a return to the world of shooting, espionage and Gabe Logan’s superb name."
There's also more evidence to support previous rumors that the new God of War will sport online multiplayer. The fact that GoWIV is in development won't come as a big shock to anyone, although we're hoping the title will arrive for this year's holiday season. As for Syphon Filter, it hasn't seen the light of day on the PlayStation 3 this generation but stealth/action fans have been hoping for a new entry. Perhaps the official unveiling isn't far off...

i doubt london would be working on it though, simply because 1 they recently had their studio cut in half so they would not have the manpower for it.
2 they put 8 days and the getaway 3 on hold saying there shifting focous to more casual games, and once eyepet came out they said there dedicating their resources to that.
and last but not least sony bend has always done syphon filter, so why would it change now?
plus, golden abyss was their last game which is out now so what are they working on now?
i really hope we are getting a new syphon filter game, but i seriously doubt we are simply because, well, how many times has this been said?
5000000000?
at least!
and if it is, london would be the last studio it should come out of.

That being said, it isn't unfeasible. Let's not forget that a logo for the game did go up on the PS homesite shortly before E3 last year.
As for GoW IV, I don't want it yet. I want the series to make a glorious resurgence on the PS4, with Santa Monica having worked on something different in the meantime. HOWEVER! What if SM is working on Heavenly Sword 2. Co-op multiplayer could be included if they have one player as Nariko and the other as Kai, or perhaps Nariko's father or any number of combinations really. Let it be so!

I thought GOW3 reached a perfect and natural ending of Krato's story, anything further will be a drag of the story and going downward just like Assassin's Creed series -- AC1 is good, AC2 is awesome, AC Brotherhood is not bad, AC Revelation, don't know, less exciting -- you see the logic: same will go to GOW series if keeps Krato's story dragging, which is sad to see an awesome franchise these days always ending with un-necessary stretch just because it is harder to come up a new IP....
