Reckoning Online Pass Gets You Seven Extra Quests
In the continued battle of publishers versus the pre-owned game market, the Online Pass is becoming more prevalent.
But some game makers want to give you even more incentive to purchase a game new. Take EA's Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning, the upcoming role-playing game from 38 Studios.
New copies of the title will include the Online Pass, which has become standard fare for EA titles. But here's the unexpected bonus: seven House of Valor faction quests. That's right, only the Pass unlocks these quests so if you wait to buy the game pre-owned, you'll be missing out. Now, it's very possible that those seven missions will end up as downloadable content at some point but of course, you'd have to pay for it.
As for those thinking this is content that was taken out of the game to create such a ploy, don't worry. As 38 Studios community manager "Muse" said in the game's official forums:
"The House of Valor content was not in the finished game/disc at one point, then removed. It isn't there and we're locking you out of it. The House of Valor was created as stand-alone content, and was always intended to be the first DLC. Instead of holding onto it and charging for it later, we opted to give it to everyone who purchases the game new, for free, on launch day."
So there you have it. Gonna get it new?

...memories from demo:
Now you see my shield "SWOOSH"
Now you don't. HA!
Now you see my shield "swoosh"
Now you don't!
It's funny, funny like Looney Toons. Bugs Bunny and Daffy Duck pulled crap out from behind themselves all the time.

Anyways, all it means I won't be playing online or I won't get the games with online passes. I preorder the special edition of reckoning so I have nothing to worry about.
