Soul Calibur V: Complete Fighter Roster
Soul Calibur V isn't far off, and the hardcore fans are just dying to jump into the ring again.
But have you seen the full roster yet? There have been plenty of rumors surrounding certain characters and while a few hopeful assumptions persist, The Controller Online was able to come up with the complete main roster (with a few possible exceptions).
It looks like this; it consists of returning faces and new competitors. Check it out:
- Aeon
- Astaroth
- Cervantes
- Dampierre
- Hilde
- Ivy
- Kilik
- Leixia
- Maxi
- Mitsurugi
- Natsu
- Nightmare
- Patroklos
- Pyrrha
- Raphael
- Siegfried
- Tira
- Viola
- Voldo
- Yoshimitsu
- Xiba
- Z.W.E.I
Additions- Algol and Edge Master are unlocked in Story Mode, and don't forget about two special guests: Ezio Auditore of Assassin's Creed fame and, believe it or not, Katsuhiro Harada, the Tekken producer. Yes, it appears the real guy is in the game. Elysium is still a rumor but that may be confirmed at a later date.
So there you have it. Sorry, Sophitia fans, we're not sure why she's not here. But we imagine the more avid followers will try to create her with that robust character customization mechanic in the game, right?

For me, no Talim = wait for price-drop. Maybe They'll release some of the old characters through DLC later? Or are we just supposed to deal with their absence... :(

To me, the game has a distinctly more macho, aggressive feel, and seems to be content to abandon fans of series favorites. Since they are content to abandon me, I will abandon them.

Im aware of your past comments for SCV but I mean a outcry on the level of Ninja Theory doing DMC, Sucker Punch new Cole,Platinum doing Metal Solid Rishing and SE XIII. I don't like the changes they have made either but there enough of past characters returning for me to still buy it.
Setsuka didnt make the cut either.

As for recreating her with the create a soul feature Ben, I can create anything I want with the same feature in SC3 and 4. Why bother buying SCV so I can put in a hollow caricature in replacement of that which is removed? That's a weak reason to buy a game that repeats a mechanic that I have already got in 3-4 other games.

Sophtia's moveset returns in another form of Pyrrha. She is called Pyrrha Omega and wields Soul Edge and has evil eyes.
Kilik is a mimic who changes through all of the MALE styles in the game.
Elysium is the boss of the game. I believe she is the heavenly representation of Sophitia. She mimics all the females in the game.
I do not know if this has been poster here in previous comments, but rest assured it is completely true.
You can find the information on 8wayrun, there were even some leaked youtube videos of it

no.. what everyone is talking about is what character is stopping them form buying this game.
this saddens me.
it makes me sad because imo fighting games should be about how tight they are, the moves, the styles, the flair..
yes, to a certain degree i agree on the characters being replaced isnt exactly what i would choose. but come on.. SC has been around for a long time now, and there needs to be a lil shake up in order to make the game feel a little fresher, especially after the last installment.
but they also need to be able to be in a position where either through DLC or SCVI they can start to bring old characters back, and the fans will go mad for them...

There is no reason for me to but the game because all of my favorite characters are gone, and I can play the same move sets in at least 3 other games already.

As dillonthebunny said, the game itself could still be fantastic, but if it had the same roster as before it would be more of the same. This could be a step in the right direction for the series to evolve. Keep in mind I said COULD BE because I'm not passing judgment just yet, as many people seem to be doing without regarding any other aspects of the game.

I agree that people have their characters and become purists in doing so, or at least they think so. basically they are the sort of people who say I cant play that game if im not playing as .... (fill in the blanks), which sounds ridiculous to me.
a fighting game is ALL about fighting mechanics, every Tekken and Soul calibur game that has come has refined their engine since the last installment. You say that movesets are movesets, and to a certain degree thats true, but its what you do with them, its how you apply them to your fight that makes games like Soul Calibur shine from the crowd.
The game has to move on, it has to grow.. the fighting engine that was in this and the last game is amazing, but if you dont start to do something radical then the games all blur in to one.
sometimes you must clear the path before moving forward.

Do they not consider that a combatant who has been part of the cast since Soul Edge may very well be the favorite of many?
