Square Enix Secret Team Toiling Away On An Unknown IP

We're not willing to guess. Are you? Wanna give it a shot?

After Final Fantasy XIII-2 is out the door, the general consensus is that Square Enix will return their focus to Final Fantasy Versus XIII. But they always have other projects going on...

According to a recent Famitsu interview with Square Enix boss Tetsuya Nomura concerning the company's plans for 2012, the producer's reply was as follows:

"There is also a secret team working on an unannounced title, so there is a chance that some information about that will be announced this year too, please continue looking forward to these announcements."

A secret team and an unannounced title, which may or may not receive an unveiling (of sorts) this year...anybody want to toss out some suggestions? We know they're working on delivering Final Fantasy X HD and the possibility of a FFVII remake is dead and buried. There's talk about Kingdom Hearts III for the PS3 but then again, that talk has been around since the start of the generation. Hey, how's about the long-gone Chrono Break? Wouldn't that be sweet?

Just trying to be hopeful.

Thannks riku for reminding me that kh3 was not the priority over another ff13 game. Althought the trailer for v13 looked effing snazzy, I want some mother truckin kh3. I'm play kh:bbs and after that I'm thinkin ill do a run through of the kh games I have and maybe pick up some of the ons for systems I have.

Aas much as it hurts me to say what I'm about to say, cause I, like any fan of the chrono series would love a 3rd installation... last I heard/read, which was awhile ago, that the name chrono break was bought by square japan, then the time they had to make something of it ran out, and then square america bought the name and the same thing happened. I can't remember exact wordage, but if you google chrono break you'll see what I'm talking about.

Although I would love to see it.

But please, someone look up chrono break and explain what I ment with this post, I'm half asleep right now and my thinker is not working at full capacity.

I hope they're not waiting for Utada Hikaru to end her self-imposed hiatus before they come up with Kingdom Hearts 3! LOL

S-E, just give us FF Versus XIII. PLEASE! We're literally begging you at this point. We don't want FF XIII-3 or whatever secret game you have. Just finish a game you announced more than 5 years ago! When you get that into the consumers' hands then, by all means, announce a thousand more games that you may or may not finish.

Actually I hope they wait for Utada Hikaru hiatus to end so she'll give another amazing soundtrack for the epic end of Xehanort's saga on KH3~

Anyway KH3 wont be here soon - because after KH3D is done - it'll probably be KH:BBS volume 2 as stated in the KH:BBS secret ending - after that is probably when they'll release KH3 in HD graphics with full epicness~

Yup, no one but Utada has the ability to write/sing music that truly captures the magic of Kingdom Hearts. A new song for KH as a comeback from hiatus will definitely boosts KH popularity~

I think it will benefit both KH and Utada. Passion did not necessarily light up the Oricon charts, but I like that song a lot more than I did Hikari/Simple and Clean. But you know what? I'll take any new song from Hikki! :-)

You know Ben, I've seen articles like this all the time where we just wish they could make our dreams come true with Final Fantasy VII. I don't understand that about Square Enix. Now I'm sure everyone has asked questions like how come they don't remake it and that's a good point, how come? Well maybe it's because Square Enix have the belief they don't have the budget to re-develop Final Fantasy VII. OR Maybe they want to imply the quote, "if its not broke, don't fix it."

There could be so many other reasons why they do not want to make it, maybe they just don't have the right kind of development team for that. That's where the long time fans get put in the dust because everyone wants it but no one can have the remake because they just don't want to do it.

I mean maybe this is a good thing, maybe it is the right thing they leave it as it is instead of trying to re-develop the game.

Anyways hope it's Kingdom Hearts! I don't know if I want a new ip from SE or not... Not for any reason other than I'd like a next gen Kingdom Hearts.

id put my money on KH they seem quite enthusiastic to work on it eventually so.......
i wish they would work on a westernised styled game like FF though.
ive always been amazed and fascinated by the scifi futuristic environments of the series, i wish we could have that mixed in with a proper RPG with a in depth combat system like the witcher 2s.
now that would be freaking sweet!
id love to see a sequel to neir too, one of this generations most under rated games!

For some reason Versus seems to be low on SE's list of priorities. Although on the bright side this probably also means that the game isn't going multi-plat anytime soon if at all. What I mean is that the SE executives obviously prefer the multi-plat approach. So it stand's to reason that they would be reluctant to devote company resources to an exclusive project and this would also go a long way toward explaining why Versus's development has been progressing so slowly.

S-E need to stop making new game if they cant finish existing ones. The amount of time its taking the to finish FFvXIII is making them look stupid, theres no way the game is going to be profitable after being in development for this long.

A new Parasite Eve for the console would be nice! Or a port of 3rd Birthday!

Though Takeshi Arakawa did say he wouldn't mind there being a Final Fantasy 9 sequel... I would perfer it over Final Fantasy XIII-3 anyday.

Anyways, FF7 remake is more likely than Chrono Break.
...well, in the sense that alien invasion is "more likely" than unicorns existing.

I think this mystery title will be of no consequence. A handheld installment of an obscure series nobody misses. Remember when Squenix announced a "new title in a much beloved series" and everybody got all excited about it, only to have them announce Dungeon Siege 3? This'll be something similar to that.

So, SE is working on FF:PleaseGodLetItWork, or is it the secret "WhatTheFansReallyWant" project?

More likely it's the "MoreOfTheSameCrap" project that SE seems to be into all the way up to their necks.
