God Of War HD Collection Finally Hits One Million Sold

High-definition remakes of classic titles can be popular, but only one particular Collection has managed to hit an impressive sales milestone.

Sony confirmed that the God of War HD Collection has sold one million copies worldwide. Sure, it took a few years, but it got there, right?

The port was done by developer Bluepoint games and featured 720p high-definition visuals for the first two God of War titles, which were late PS2 masterpieces. The Collection also gave us the benefit of 60 frames per second and perhaps best of all, a playable sample of God of War III. If you missed out, you can log on to the PlayStation Network and download the Collection; it's available in digital format if you don't want the disc hanging around.

All this God of War talk makes us antsy for a GoWIV announcement. Supposedly, that unveiling should come some time later this month...we'll be on pins and needles until then.

Sweet! I'm glad to see God of War HD sell so well. Great for the series, great for the fans, and great for Bluepoint Games.

I hope Bluepoint continues working on HD collections. They've done amazing work stretching from here to Team Ico to Metal Gear Solid. I keep my fingers crossed Sony hires them for Ratchet & Clank HD collection and/or Square hires them for a Kingdom Hearts HD collection.

phew, good thing, too. how else was Sony going to convince people of " ... a world where people felt like I was just trying to sell them things that they've already played." =p

jk,
no, for real, Sony's HD remakes are hot sauce, no matter what MS says about it.

"Cool beans", my HD copy's sitting right next to it's siblings, GOW 1, GOW 2 & GOW 3

Hope to hear a lot more HD collections topping the mil' mark too in the future too.

I wonder what the profit is on this? Afterall, it is an update of games that sold earlier, so I would imagine that it would be higher then lets say GOW3.

maxpontiac, the God of War Collection made a HUGE profit considering how much it sold and how cheap it was to make, but it made nowhere near the profit of GOW3 lol, that cost about $44 million to make and going by the sales and using maths and a bit of common sense it made in excess of $200 million so about $160+ million profit, HUGE, a.k.a. the reason Sony will make God of War IV.

Thats it? I would have guessed more.

I've bought a couple copies of GOW collection.

Got one of my friends to buy a ps3 just because of GOW. (So I bought a collection for him for Christmas)

I'd really like to see physical sales vs digital sales!

What? According to Vgchartz the God of War Collection has sold around 2.5 million copies at retail... Maybe Sony is talking about the Origins Collection?

That's a pretty sweet number. Clearly though, it didn't exactly influence sales of III as much as I thought it would have. Well, at least it paid off, and if the other HD collections end up selling the same, well... Great news.
*goes back to waiting for J&D*

I am one of the million. Also got the Ico collection. Those (so far anyway) were the only collections that caught my eye. Never played the Jak and Daxter games though, they could be next

Now they should release a Final Fantasy HD collection.

PSP version of FF 1 & 2
Crisis Core: Final Fantasy 7
Final Fantasy: Type-0
and a playable demo of FF vs 13

That would be a day one purchase for me :)

It was great going through GoW 1&2 in HD while I was gearing up for GoW3. I can't wait to get my hands on the GoW origins and ICO/Shadow of the Collosus collections. But they will have to wait until I recover from my Vita spending spree this month.
