The Last Of Us Slated For "Late 2012 Or Early 2013"

Yep, it has a full year to get that hype train going full speed.

Or pretty close to a year at any rate. Most assumed Naughty Dog's hot new project, The Last Of Us, would arrive for the 2012 holiday season, as Sony would really want a highly anticipated PlayStation 3 exclusive on store shelves for that crucial period.

But according to Game Informer, that might happen...or not. The estimated launch window is officially "late 2012 or early 2013," so there's no guarantee the game will be ready to go for Christmas. Obviously, we have to wait for Uncharted 4 as well, so what major PS3 software will help drive hardware sales this holiday season...? Ooooh, how's about inFamous 3...? Too soon?

Well, anyway, we're perfectly willing to wait for the masterpiece that will be The Last Of Us. Yes, we're being overtly optimistic and as a result, contributing directly to the aforementioned hype. Oh well.

I can wait. There are a ton of games this year that will keep me occupied (want to hear more about 'Sly: Thieves in Time' already).

Should be awesome.

I was really hoping for a Holiday 2012 release...either way I'm sure Sony will announce something we might not yet heard about for this holiday. They generally are really good about keeping games or projects underwraps, and announce them as the year goes on. I love that as it seems like I'm never waiting TOO long for a game (with The Last Guardian being the lone exception).

I'm thinking we hear some more announcements this month...GoW4 and possibly Syphon Filter 4? Those would be great fillers for this holiday. Maybe even Guerilla Games new IP?

Stop the hype train, I wanna get off.

Or at least, give me the key to the caboose so I can keep raiding the locker munchies while I'm riding the rails on this long 1 year hype train ride to the final TLOU station destination.

I'm all for early 2013, even mid or late 2013. I want it as finished as ND wants it with little regard for when it ships. A rushed game can be remembered forever as only a okay game, where a game arriving a few months later can be remembered forever as a landmark achievement. I take the latter.

let them sit on it til 2013. Uncharted 3 was rushed, I want an Uncharted 2 experience with polished gameplay and story

Read "City of Thieves" by "David Benoit" while you wait. A awesome book that inspired the ideas for this game... Great book!

Other artistic inspirations included the movies No Country for Old Men and The Road, comic The Walking Dead and WWII novel City of Thieves!!
