Square Enix Profits Jump 175% Thanks To Deus Ex, FFXIII-2
Financially speaking, Square Enix is going in the right direction, if their latest sales results are any indication.
Deus Ex: Human Revolution and the recently released Final Fantasy XIII-2 were cited as reasons for the company's growth, as profits skyrocketed in the nine-month period ending December 31, 2011.
According to the numbers, Square Enix posted a net income of 5.01 billion yen ($65.78 million) in the aforementioned period, which is up a whopping 175% from the previous year's take of 1.82 billion yen ($23.8 million). Both of the titles listed above did well (remember that FFXIII-2 launched in December in Japan), and Square Enix's web, smartphone, and social networking services also contributed.
Overall net sales came in at 95.74 billion yen ($1.26 billion), which was down 2.5% from the 98.18 billion ($1.28 billion) posted the previous year. The company said their full-year forecasts have remained unchanged. Well, it's all a lot better than when we heard profits slid over 90%, remember?

Final Fantasy XIII-2... well, good for Square I guess. Let's hope they now start giving us information of Versus XIII now.

But pokemon is immortal. Weird you put it in the same boat since they still do new pokemons and kids still buy it. Do not see why enjoying FFXIII would take him away from that... In fact it might even be a good first rpg-light start towards awesomeness :D

Well that's likely one of the reasons that there's been so much demand for a FFVII remake. I think it's safe to say that Final Fantasy VII combined with current generation visuals would make a most formidable combination indeed.

Reviewers should not base their reviews on the hatred of people (or theirs) for a previous entry. That's how I feel it was received. (not saying it was the case here) To me XIII is worth 8/10. XIII-2 over 9/10. They really nailed it with the changes and made it one of the most fun/addicting rpgs to play this year.

i really hope $E put a new one out soon, its one of the very few IPs out there thats really interesting.
i just hope next time it has a better story, it was not exactly poor but too shallow and not really that gripping.
ending was definitely the biggest let down, talk about going out with a whimper!
