PSN Undergoes Name Change, Becomes SEN On February 8
Man, we're just so used to "PlayStation Network." It'll be weird referring to it as the "Sony Entertainment Network."
We knew before that Sony would phase out the Qriocity brand and rename the PSN as the SEN but it'll become official in regards to user accounts on February 8. Readers have forwarded us an email they've received (which has been posted in the NeoGAF forums) that announces the change.
There isn't much else to report, though. This change is only cosmetic; nothing but the name of your account will change. Everything will still function as it always has, and you won't be asked to change your username or password; remember, any attempts to "verify" such information from Sony are fake and shouldn't be given any attention. Here's how Sony responded after the news leaked:
"The goal is for there to be one networked log-in for all Sony services. Changing the name 'PlayStation Network account' to 'Sony Entertainment Network account' helps clarify the unity between PSN and other Sony Entertainment Network services."
By the way, for some reason, this doesn't apply to the PSP. User accounts through that device will still say "PlayStation Network." ...weird.

I sort of get the feeling that Sony will abandon the Playstation brand and the PS4 will be called something entirely different. Ok realistically, maybe not the PS4 but in the future I cant help but wonder if they would do a complete re-branding. I don't know why I feel that way, but it all starts somewhere, and it started with the PSN becoming the SEN.
I hope this isn't the case though, the Playstation brand is Sony's bread and butter as far hardware goes.

I'll admit that all 18 of my various Playstation systems have all been one hell of a guilty pleasure, but I still don't my Playstation Network to sound like it's a now going to be a "SIN".
