Naughty Dog On Jak And Daxter PS3: "Never Say Never"
Naughty Dog is hard at work on The Last Of Us and - presumably - Uncharted 4.
They really can't add another major project to their plate right now. But that doesn't mean they can't look forward to the future, right? And the fans have been wondering if the studio would ever make a Jak and Daxter installment for the PlayStation 3.
We'll soon get the Jak and Daxter Collection, which features high-definition remakes of the first three titles in the series. And in the latest Game Informer issue, Naughty Dog boss Evan Wells commented on the possibility of seeing a next-gen J&D adventure. You can find the summary of his replies in the NeoGAF forums, and here's one of the most interesting parts:
"We’d all talked about it in interviews with fans asking, ‘When’s the next Jak and Daxter?’ I don’t know if this is going to make them happy or sad, but we did explore the idea fairly extensively. Something that we talked about early on was, ‘Let’s go back and apply what we’ve learned on the Uncharted games to Jak and Daxter.’ It’s one of the franchises that’s near and dear to us, and, in all honesty, we’d like to somehow honor."
But as the team workshopped the idea, it became clear that the more they implemented what they had learned from Uncharted, the further it got from the essence of Jak and Daxter. That would probably annoy the fans and Naughty Dog has a history of making their fans exceedingly happy, so they passed on the idea. That being said, as Wells said, "never say never."
"Now is not the time. Never say never. It could happen. Naughty Dog’s got a long history and I think it’s got a long future, so to say well never go back is kind of crazy. But right now we’ve got this new IP that we’re definitely going to be supporting. I guess there’s a possibility that the Uncharted Team could move on to Jak and Daxter. It’s still up in the air, but I wouldn’t think that’s going to happen because I think we’d run into all of the same problems with that team that we did with this team."

here we go.
AGAIN!
why cant it just be a straight sequel?
why does it have to be different?
seriously, can someone please explain that to me?
why is every company so god dam set on taking franchises and turning them into things there not!?
why cant they just stay the same they were?
they clearly see thats not what fans want, but go and do it anyway!
why do they have to be changed, why cant they be same game just new levels?
this is EXACTLY why theres such a demand for HD classics instead of just sequels.
because fans know sequels wont be sequels, they will be new IPs with a well known franchises name slapped on it for sales sake.
why cant you just make a new J&D game, exactly the same as the ones we fell in love with on the ps2, without changing anything?
why is it that if this industry is going to bring back a franchise from previous generations it has to be changed?
we never did that going from ps1 to ps2 so why are we doing it going from ps2 to ps3?
why cant they just stay the same?
