Rumor: LittleBigPlanet Karting Spotted

I miss kart games. I do. And no, I don't have a Wii.

The big rumor is that we might soon see "LittleBigPlanet Karting," which we assume would be a cross between Media Molecule's stellar, innovative platformer and the in-depth ModNation Racers.

It began at Destination PlayStation and was picked up by various sources like TrendyGamers, and then a new ad gets posted up on the LittleBigPodcast Twitter page. If you can see those images, they depict a third-person kart racing game that features the Play, Create, Share philosophy from the LBP franchise, and we've heard other rumors that say costumes from the first two Sackboy games will be transferable. Oh, and weapons, too...can't have a kart game without tossing crazy weapons at your opponents, right?

Sony hasn't officially confirmed anything yet, but we're leaning toward "not fake" on this one. It seems like a distinct possibility.

I love Little Big Planet, and I had a blast with Mod Nation Racers. It's weird that Sony would release two games exclusively that would be in direct competition, ala this little big planet game and Mod Nation. But that's great because I actually thing Little Big Planet and Karting could make a truly more immersive and compelling experience.

i agree, i dont know why sony is making an actual littlebigplanet kart racing game since they already have modnation racers. it will be the same game. they couldve made modnation racers 2 featuring littlebigplanet. my guess is that they're just planning to use the littlebigplanet name since its a much bigger draw than naming it modnation racers. i dont exactly know how much modnation sold but compared to littlebigplanet, modnation isnt a household/ps3 game/visible name. kinda like how square enix used the tag final fantasy to sell us a game that isnt final fantasy. only difference is we know this kart game will be great and well get what we expect it to be. i bought modnation racers right when it came out, used 60 dollars in reward zone certificates and got it basically free. that was when best buy reward zone was still great. now that thing is just crap.

I'm wondering if this will be a downloadable offshoot like Sackboy's Prehistoric Moves, rather than a full retail game.

I was just thinking that, Fane.

I hope it's an add-on to LBP 2 rather than a whole new $60 game. If it is a whole new disc release game, I might just skip.

Why bother with LBP Kart Racing when Modnation Racers already does it so well?? Just feels unnecessary really.

There's a big enough range in kart racing games for LBP and Modnations to exist on the market I think. I for one would love this!

Modnations Racer is LBP with car,unless is for PS4 or as a DLC then i agree.

I completed that game to 100% back in the day. Got platinum relics on all tracks. (Secret is to take different routes each lap. If you get all time boxes on a track, you get 10 seconds taken off your time at the end) Not to mention, if you're constantly moving well and getting all boxes, you're likely to almost never have your time counting up. I did get one map to be 0:00:00 time trial. Took a bit of luck, though. Admittedly, to get platinum relics, it took many tries on each map. A huge part of it is just learning where all the boxes are!

And you're right. It was my favorite kart game too!
